Comments for Last Exit, Koln

Live recording by Last Exit. Actually i haven''t heard Noise of Trouble, but compare this live recording to the reissued From the Board, one can come to the conclusion that the shows in Koln (ie this disc) is much more ferocious and intense than From the Board. Although Laswell was not really grooving along with Jackson, nonetheless the quartet was blowing with power and intensity that only Last Exit can possess. Also commendable is that Sharrock''s playing is featured much more prominently with the rapid-picking notes and blizzards of distorted chords slapping in your face while Brotzmann''s screaming sax lines piercing through your eardrums into the brain. Unlike John Zorn''s Naked City which hits the listener hard and fast, Last Exit pushed improvised with the power and urgency not unlike Naked City (not to mention many Naked City''s tunes were composed by John Zorn rather than improvised).
