Comments for MERZBOW, Mort Aux Vaches (AKA Locomotive Breath)Recorded live at VPRO studios in Amsterdam, this is Merzbow`s contribution to the series for which Jorge Reyes, Deutsch Nepal, Illusion of Safety, In Slaughter Natives, Asmus Tietchens, etc., have lent performances. What we get is more NOISE! Surprise, surprise - Akita is again joined by his wife, Reiko Azuma (a noise couple - who would`ve thought...), and the result is more of the same:many, many, many layers of developing noise, the same noise, but always somewhat different. The recording isn`t quite as up-close or far-away as some Merzbow albums (Pulse Demon or Noizhead as examples, respectively), so we get something of a middle ground in terms of how we can listen to this noise. And how can we listen to this noise? Easily - it`s not Merzbow`s brightest moment, but, as always, it`s greatly involving and begs for repeated listenings, hoping to eventually engulf you.(I just wish Staalplaat would nix the silly packaging - a paper sleeve with an envelope tack holding the whole deal together. Argh...) Limited edition of 1000.Comments supplied by users do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Roadkill Consulting, Inc. |
