Comments for Arkenstone,David, Another Star In The Sky

He should have taken Jon Anderson, or may be Geoff Tate (together w/ Chris de Garmo) - IMHO- to sing in this album instead of his own voice which is a little pathetic. However, the electric guitar parts are very interesting and a little hard rockish.

Well, I don''t mind David Arkenstone''s singing, although I certainly like it better on "Quest of the Dream Warrior" than here, where it''s often more like David Enyastone. The lack of the huge orchestral sound is a bit disappointing after "In the Wake of the Wind" and the melodies are darker, less catchy and also sound less inspired. There are a few nicely crafted New Age pop songs, such as "Taken by the Wind" (unfortunately let down by its laughable central metaphor). Still, it''s not bad, just not as good as his finest albums. I''ve no objection at all to his singing and would only like to hear him use other vocalists if they could really bring something different to the sound (such as a female vocalist). I like his instrumental work but wouldn''t like him to abandon his own vocals permanently as they work fine within what he''s trying to achieve. (Ian C. Thomas)
