Comments for Marillion, Brave

Even Kerrang! gave this album a good write-up.I think the term they used was "Prog-Rock for the nineties" The styles on the album vary from Hard Rock to a minimalist ambient style. However, far from being schizophrenic in it's make-up I found it instantly appealing. If this is the way Marillion are going, I think we are in for a treat. Look out for the Video of the album. It is rumoured on the grapevine that it is already being shown around the country.

After some years of scepticism, and jokes about the demise of Fish, this album proved to be one of the best of 1994. Keep taking the drugs, lads.

I've just read that the film 'Brave', plus a documentary on the making of the album, are to be released on video in the UK on the 6th February 1995.

"Brave" is without a doubt the best album Marillion has ever done, including the albums made with Fish as the vocalist.

For the attention of BURNETT@BALDRICK.CECER.ARMY.MIL. UP YOURS PENIS BREATH!! Marillion's previous two albums to 'Brave' were suberb, as any Marillion fan will testify. You are obviously not a true fan of the band and boy does it show. I wish your sort would just FUCK OFF. There are many fans of Marillion out there. Every time I've seen them live it's always a full house. Just because they are not RADIO 1 friendly they always get a bad press. If you dont like them, fine, I'm happy for you, but at least say so. Dont hide behind a lot of pretentious bullshit, pretending you accurately gauge the reaction of the bands true fans. Oh, and while I'm verbally abusing you, have you ever read a dictionary? Well it's about time you did. The page with the word "disillusioned" may be of particular interest. --------- KING KONG DONG

The best album from Marillion with Steve Hogarth. I didn't believe that they could do something like this after listening to the two albuns before this on. But, not is perfect. They did Afraid of Sunlight and came back to the line of Holidays in Eden. Where do we go from here?

"But, not is perfect." Is that some sort of fuckin' spastic talk, you piece of dung-beatle excrement. I said it on the A.O.S. page, and I'll say it again:- FUCK OFF!-----------------King Dong

Oh, and "Where do we go from here?" took you a while to think of that one, eh? Well, where you go is to the top of the nearest, and tallest, multi-storey building AND FUCKIN' JUMP OFF, YOU WANKER!!!! ---------- KING DONG

Enough of the abusive shite guys. Please!!! Anyways, my personal verdict on this album is that it is truly, by far, the best thing Marillion have ever recorded. The video was a touch on the clichéd side, but that is not the issue here. If you like prog-rock, and want to hear the most valid exponent of recent years, do yourself a favour and buy this album now. It's not too late! The textures in this recording stand up to repeated listening without doubt, and Hogarth's skill as a vocalist really separates this album from his earlier work with either the Europeans or his earlier output with Marillion. And no, "Afraid Of Sunlight" isn't bad either. Rant over.

As being a Marillion fan since the days of "Script" I would have to say that this is definately the definitive Marillion. It helped me get through one of the roughest parts of my life. One of the greatest moments of my life was when I met Steve Hogarth backsstage after a show In Toronto on August 5, 1995 and got to thank him for writing an album about my life. He was genunily touched by the comment and said that I am not the only one who has said that to him. The only thing that I can say to someone who has not heard this yet is go get it. Listen to it loud in the dark and have lots of kleenex with you...
This is the latest effort from Marillion. It is certainlya departure from their last 2 albums (Holiday`s In Edenand Seasons End). It is a return to the concept, 1piece of music album that Marillion made it`s mark with inthe 80`s. If you have been dissolusioned by the past 2 albums, definitely go out and get this ... you won`t be disappointed.
