first, it's FANTASTIC to see something new from this band. when you check the new releases and the "M" section EVERY TIME you go into a record store for five years (since Sunrise on the Sufferbus), you know that your dedicated to a band. And they did not disappoint with the live album. To start, the band works Blue Garden (from the first album) into a Kyuss-esque frenzy before launching into it with fervor. Moving to the Sabbath heavy Alder Smoke Blues (will we see a studio version of this? god i hope so) and onto the dreamy Doraldina's Prophecies. They don't let you down with the muscle-car riffing and power of She Got Me, then ease into the acoustic Jindalee Jindalie. The epic John Brown gains a traditional american flavor, Tilt-A-Whril was meant to be played live and ANTS IN THE KITCHEN (my favorite track of theirs...except maybe the Candy Song (sorrily missing)) rocks with the picture perfect cover of Jeff Beck's Going Down. I hadn't ever noticed the similiarities until the Masters pointed it out for me. And they finish up with the forlorn 100 Years (my wife's favorite), a track that gains power played live. THANK GOD THE MASTERS ARE STILL ALIVE!!!! Let there be more! Please let there be more! Googe-if your listening, don't let me down. When 3 albums in 9 years still makes you my favorite band, you know your'e doing something right. I appreciate Chris' studio work producing, but the Masters have my heart. Dark Progressive rock like no other. If you haven't heard the Masters of Reality, you are truly missing out.

Best live disc I've heard in a decade - easily. Best since Smithereens Live in 1988. My only question is how could you leave "The Candy Song" off? You may have become the best live record ever if you had added that. BUY THIS RECORD!!!!

This is the first album I have bought by Masters Of Reality...and I love it! I love the lyrics and the music, hey, I love it all. Scott Weiland is also very cool on #6! Check it out!!!

I don't know this new album , but I am very curious about it . Ia have two studio MoR CD + "dolrina" on Def sampler all are fantastic- so live at Vipers must be either. I must admit that MoR seems to be better than Cream when compared.

These dudes are true "ARTIST" in every sense of the word. Yet while they don't seem to take themselves too seriously, they have the ability to lock into the grove and take you along with them. Yeah I know, this sounds like a bunch of P.R. but I was at the first Viper room show! Allmost beyond - description. Everyone was under their magical spell...

This CD is a MUST for any fans of live, kickin' tunes. From the first notes of "How High The Moon" to the Goss comment about tippin' your bartenders, this disc will totally mesmerize you. Production is impeccible and the playin' is right on. Please, please tour this CD soon. We're all "jonesin'" out here for live MASTERS. Don't hesitate, buy this disc and see the show when they get to your area. You won't be sorry......

Phew! Thank god for something new from the Masters. Great album, great sound, cool new tunes. I love the way they played "The Blue Garden", and "John Brown". Hoping for a new studio CD soon.

Finally got my mitts on a copy. Can you say ecstasy... You see, I was there. I want to tell ya'all that everyone in the Viper Room was in as close to perfect harmony as your likely to get without the use of certain and very powerfull illegal substances... I hope the band will forgive my comparing their performance to the above mentioned items. They were out of their minds and we went with them. Wheeeeeewho!!!!! The MASTERS OF REALITY rule baby. BUY any thing you can find by them and pack whatever house they're playing in and pay whatever it takes! Ray(Yes I'm Mad...)Vasquez

A Monster album by the band we all grew up with...(well, it just seems that long)I concur with most all of the comments made above and just wanted to provide a link to some live Masters Of Reality you may of not heard yet!!! Right before the Viper Room shows the boys appeared on KCRW's Morning Becomes Electric for a hour long show where they answer some questions and play some new and old tunes, a few of which are not on the How High The Moon disc, a couple which haven't been released yet!!!A real treat!!! it's at http://www.liveconcerts.com just click on the KCRW tag and choose it from the list..just be sure to have Real Player... ...it's enough to make you want to start your own label just to get more of this magic out there!!! - emc2 -

Too bad that the '90s seems to be for weak shit like Sarah McLaughlin & the Lilith Fairers, Hurl Jam & Eddie Nosebleeder, G Love & Special Sauce and Ben Folds Five, because the Masters are bona fide authentic ROCK 'n' ROLL. HOW HIGH THE MOON demonstrates the muscle and energy they deliver 'live.' A strong mix of new & old stuff from these guys, who have such a unique sound and feel, despite the obvious influences of 1968-1976 rock. A new studio album from these guys would be great, and so would a gig in Atlanta. I give out MASTERS albums as Christamas presents. People ask, "Who is THIS?" But two weeks later they're all singing "John Brown, tear him down...."

Hey when are Masters of Reality coming to Australia. They kick ass. Great to see they're still releasing stuff. Well I'm off to the record store to order this album
E-MAIL: xximixx@juno.com
yet another brilliant but unknown band! i just got this live album, and yes, it's very good. unlike most live albums, this one is worth having even if you have all the studio stuff. what else can i say?

FYI- Hastings has bunches of copies (at least in Jonesboro Arkansas, and I assume other locations) of How High the Moon for $6!! If you don''t have a copy and at least one backup check it out. Aldersmoke Blues and Jindalee Jindalie alone are worth 6 bucks. This band should be making millions.
this is the brand new live album and it kicks monster ass. the band alternates between raw and aggressive to being very bluesy and melodic. the live version of "john brown" is killer with the intro containing snippets of the song "j.b. witchdance"and the version of "the Blue Garden" is intense as hell as the sng has been kinda redone with an almost punk ferocity.another really cool new one is "jindalee jindalie" which features scott weiland(STP) guesting on vocals. theres not a weak song an here and the production is incredible(a rare trait for a live album)! grab some beers and whatever else you like, and turn it up!Masters of Reality are back!! and by the way, buy everything you see by this band because they rule!!!
