Comments for Mclaughlin, John, Que AlegriaE-MAIL: jfrank@lcp.com An amazing work by the master of the guitar. Mclaughlin just keeps getting better, not only in pyrotechnics, but as important,in profound subtleties. Mclaughlin continues to demonstrate his worth as a prolific contemporary composer. As usual, his sidemen contribute admirably, listen to Dominique DiPiazzas' haunting bass guitar on "Marie", Kai Eckardts' beautiful bass guitar lines on "reincarnation" and Trilok Gurtus' delicate colors and textures on "Mila Repa". Recording quality is excellent! All in all, a "must have" release for any serious listener. ila RepaE-MAIL: mcfarsc@springfield.grumman.com This is sweet. McLaughlin is playing an acoustic guitsr amplified (gently) through some electrical means. The sound is really warm and "ambient". To me I wish the drums were less prominent on this album and that the recording as a whole were less compressed and "modern" - but this music should be heard, it''s very restful and very nice. Another good record from this underrated and important musician. Terrific acoustic guitar work along with superior musicianship all around...Comments supplied by users do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Roadkill Consulting, Inc. |
