Comments for Megadeth, Countdown to Extinction

I LIKE THIS ALBUM,EVEN THOUGH IT CONTAINS MANY BLUES EFFECTIONS.IT IS THE FIRST NON-THRASH ALBUM FROM MEGADETH, AND STARTS A NEW SEASON FOR THE GROUP.BEST SONGS : "SKIN O' MY TEETH","THIS WAS MY LIFE" AND "ASHES IN YOUR MOUTH".

Pretty good, but not their best. A response to Metallica's softer than normal album.

Countdown to Extinction is a very heavy, and very intellegent album. You can't say that it's soften, or lighter than Rust In Peace, because Countdown is almost like a different type of music. It's more like heavy metal, while Rust was more like thrash. And tracks like "Symphony of Destrucion" and "Ashes in Your Mouth" are not soft by any measure. Countdown to Extinction is an aggresive and confrontational, often political album. The subject matter is very dark and disturbing, talking about suicide, oppression, financial corruption, war, prison, skitzophrenia, and nuclear holocaust. Mustaine's lyrics prove to be insightful and enlightening in all areas. The playing is very tight and intense; almost flawless. The production is top-notch, making an excellent album.

A more "commercial" album, whatever the fuck that means. Slower, more paced songs dealing with political issues. I was a bit disappointed with the George Bush snipet in "Foreclosure of a Dream." Yes, it's all his fault. Doesn't Congress control the budget? Come on, Dave, be fair. Other then that, it's a good time. One of the only songs ever written about prison sodomy is a big highlight, as well as the grinding "Symphony of Destruction."

You people suck. Trying to label music. This album sucks. To the person who said Marty Freidman is a god...go fuck yourself. Dave is Ten times the guitarist that Marty is. Dave had to wipe his ass since "Rust in Peace" because he Can't play rhythm. Dave overdubbed the second rhythm guitar untill "Youthanasia"(which sucks anyway) when he finally got his shit together. "marty fag is a god?" fuck you! To the person who compared with Thrash...Get a gun and end it. We cannot let your genes escape into society. Dave Mustaine is a very clean guitar player. He left Metallica beacause he couldn't stand Hetfield dirty chords and Burton's desire overload the volume on his amp. If you don't beleive me listen to "pulling teeth" off of "Kill em All"(Come on Cliff, that buzzing sound isn't cool) If I were Dave, I would have left Metallica also.

Not a bad album but nowhere near RIP. "Symphony..", "This was my life" & "Ashes..." are the best . To the bloke who was cryin' over Mustaine's abilities & Metallica - YOU SUCK !!!!!!!

The guy who said that Mustaine left Metallica obviously doesn't know what the hell he's talking about. Mustaine was kicked out of Metallica and had no desire to leave at the time. He had drung and alcohol problems and the band thought that he was too unstable to be in the band. Hetfield and Ulrich had already been talking to Hammet and decided that they wanted to replace Mustaine. Mustaine did not quit the band and was pissed when he was kicked out. He was so pissed that he called Metallica and told them that he was starting a new death band that was going to kick their asses, and that he was going to record a version of "The Mechanix" for Megadeth's first album, even though it was a Metallica song. So do your research buddy, you are obviously ignorant and full of shit.

To the wanker who accused James Hetfield for dirty chords and the late Cliff Burton for overloading the volume - YOU take a gun and end it you sad motherfucker. Anyway, to the point : this being the second best album from 'DETH( RIP is the 1st )and kicking some major ass. Truly great album !!
