Comments for Megadeth, Youthanasia

The light touch doesn't obscure the energetic metal riffs that just might be a bit superficial; great to listen to, though.

I like the harmonic style, although I wish they would go back to their thrash Peace Sells/RIP style.

Some people have bitched at the lack of "heavyness" here, but I think this is a very "heavy" album. The songs are intelligent and insightful, and the music is brilliant. If being "heavy means playing real fast and sloppily, then no this isn't at all. Instead slower and more intense playing, along with the most mature lyrics to date, can be found here. An excellent effort.

Many people didn't like this album because they wanted a Rust in Peace clone. That's just not what Megadeth is about. They feel no need to say or do something more than once. Megadeth is about covering new ground, branching out, and adding new dimensions to their music. To think of them as a "speed metal" or a "thrash" band is a pretty narrow-minded. Granted, Youthanasia doesn't sound like Megadeth's other albums, and that's a turn off to some fans. But Youthanasia is a ground breaking album. Megadeth created it from scratch. It is unique, musically and lyrically. If you think that a band has to be playing at 100 mph and screaming profusively to be heavy, you're just not mature enough to appreciate this album. Go back to your Pantera and Fear Factory. Let them feed your junior high school menatality. If you can't deal with complex and innovative music along with socially conscious lyrics, then this album is not for you.

Itīs a "newer" Megadeth album. But I like it more than the older one.

half intelligent songs half "fill ins" Mustaine and Co. can do better and might show us this in their next release. Rust in Peace is still their best effort ever. I think the most underated song on Youthanasia was the one on incest, "Family Tree". Great song guys... The 3-4 fill in songs were lame, but there are 12 tracks so no loss and it was different sounding from their other work. The darkest song and most incredible song on this album being "Black Curtains".

Good album. I wish the drummer would play to his potential. He in an incredible drummer but plays simple, sleepy drum beats This album is all the same speed. They need a cup of coffee. Don't listen to it in your car in the middle of the night, you'll fall asleep from the non-changing tempo and hit a pole. Please Mustaine, Let Nick freak out for once, even if it's just in one tune. Other than the tempo, this album is incredible. I can' wait for their next one. Megadeth really beat Metallica BAD this time!!!!

This is a good album even if it's less heavy than their other albums. There are a couple of fillers here 3 or 4 songs are just good not great, but the 4 songs that begins this album are great. The new album are supposed to be in the veins of Rust in Peace|Peace sell.. if this is true they will be the best Metal band(Metallica's Load is not a great album).

The by far best album by Megadeth!!!!! Speed isn't heavy. Groove is! Not so many branching out solos either. Just nice and clean and with the greatest feel.If you want more of this kind of "intelligent" metal, check out TOURNIQUET. The absolute greatest band on the earth........

THIS IS MEGADETHS BEST! It showed Megadeth can write about more then monsters and wars and that kind of stuff. This album is still heavy just not as fast and it DOES NOT sound grungish. If you think it sounds like alternative stop doing so many drugs. Love the song Blood Of Heros, Reckoning Day, Train Of Consquences, A Toute Le Monde and family Tree.

This is album shows a less heavy side of Megadeth. Stillthis is an excellent album

What a f**king great album. Highlights on the album include the excellent Victory and Blood of Heroes and the lyrics are awsome and insightful unlike some of their pevious albums. An all round success.
