Comments for Megadeth, Rust in Peace

It's the best album they made...

Continuing in the style started on "So far...", Megadeth combines a wide varietzy of different styles on this album. Most of the lyrics are very political, and more or less remotely connectet to the Gulf War, which took place about the time the album was released. IMHO the best Megadeth album so far, and as well one of the best newer metal records I know. Especially check out "Holy wars" (great arrangement), "Take No Prisoners" (classic Mega- deth style) and "Eye of the Tornado". Rainer

Megadeth at their best. This is the best metal album I've ever heard. Most of the lyrics are political and concide with Desert Storm ("Holy Wars...The Punishment Due" & "Rust In Peace...Polaris"). Derek

The best Megadeth album. Maybe the planets were aligned or something when they made this, but Mustaine doesn't whine all that much and the band actually has talent. Who needs Metallica?

Yep, this is 'Deth's best, and one of my favourite albums of all time. Everything is just so damn good!! The riffs, the solos (especially Hangar 18), the lyrics (miles better than most crap these days) and Dave's voice is at it's very best; rough, chunky, menacing and perfectly suited to the music. The opening minutes of Holy wars... are brilliant, the best intro of any album I've heard, and it improves further on in. Dawn Patrol is a classic Megadeth "the-future-is-bleak" song and Rust In Peace...Polaris warns of the threat of nuke's while beeing excellent metal at the same time. More Please!

The best Megadeth effort so far. The best ever. Holy Wars, Tornado of Souls, Rust in Peace are some of their best songs. Any coincidence their best stuff is w/ Marty and Nick?

A new drug-free Megadeth in top form. What can you say that hasn't already been said? This album is a testament to 12 step programs and there power to improve your life. My personal favorite is "Poison was the Cure," a bitter tune about heroin addiction.

Rust in peace is without a doubt the definitive Megadeth album. With Dave's blistering leads (take no prisoners)and searing vocals (tornado of souls), Nick's relentless drums (title song, poison was the cure), Marty's screaming solo's (tornado of souls, hangar 18), and David's mind-numbing bass (dawn patrol), make for a perfect album. Shut off your computer now, and go buy it TODAY!!!!! A 10!!!!!! -Korndog

Definetly the best Megadeth album. I hear it in my sleep sometimes.

Wait a minute. I'm reading all these references to the Gulf War. Desert Shield and Desert Storm came after these songs were arranged. I agree that perhaps unrest in the middle east could have been an influence, but then, after all, this is only a crappy heavy-metal album, and the frontman is a borderline socialist.

This record rules! Honestly, I used to take this one as my favorite Megadeth's album. That was until 'Cryptic writings' came out. Oh, by the way, fuck the one above me who says Mustaine is a 'borderline socialist'. When there's talent there, you don't need ideologies. Fuck Metallica! Fuck 're- load'!!!

It''s the only album I''ll never get sick of. Brilliant orchestration of talent at high speed. The guitar solo in Tornado of Souls gives me chills.

This album is my second favourite megadeth album after Youthanasia. It shows the thrashy side of megadeth whilst still being musically excellent. Marty proves himself to be a guitar god on this album. The only bad thing about the album is the lame production.
