Comments for Men Without Hats, Folk of the 80's (part III)E-MAIL: Sabri.Sen-1@tc.umn.edu I bought the LP at a nearby Target store a few months ago ('96) for 49 cents. Great deal.E-MAIL: john@ravnest.powernet.co.uk I have to dissagree with 'Phil's opinion' of 'Mothers Opinion'. When you've played the album for 13 years it's the incredibly twee 'I Know Their Name' that begins to grate, while 'Mother' has become a true classic.E-MAIL: riddle2@mail.gte.net Correction: Where I stated "I'm in Love, I should have said "Intro Eloise". My apologies. So much for my memory.E-MAIL: clara@foni.net suche die cd FOLK OF THE 80`s part 3 von Men without Hats Clara@oni.netE-MAIL: yug@netsync.net I don''t know why I love this album. Infectious is right but it''s also very substantial and after all these years I still don''t know why. Canadian political angst maybe, but this Buffalo, New Yorker heard a wallowing cry of our empty unfullfilled empathy for the impoverished of the world. Love it. Back with another shortish but hook-laden album, the Montreal band failed to recapture the 1982 success ofRhythm of Youth and "The Safety Dance," its hit.Although this album is only two-thirds as good as that one, that`s still good enough for a 9 out of 10. You mightfast forward past the unnecessary and overlong "Mother`s Opinion"; the rest is uniformly infectious.Comments supplied by users do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Roadkill Consulting, Inc. |
