Comments for Michael, George, Older

Very stylish album, It took a little bit too long to make (time moves slowly when you have to wait), but it compensates that George Michael himself excuses for that fact. It HAS been worth the wait! I especially like (besides the hits Jesus To a Child and Fast Love): -Move On -Star People (Next hit, mark my words!) 9 out of 10

This album is indeed displays George Michael's ability to keep up with the times and surpass the quality of "Listen Without Prejudice". There are some songs that are sure to win him some popularity, I hope his (re)found success with this album enables him to be as innovative with Pop music as he has been in the past. An excellent album that shows only some of his talents. My only complaint: Songs are either up-beat or mellow; hardly any beats in between.

Again, George has proven why he is one of the world's premier musicians. "Older" is moody and optimistic, playful and dark all at the same time, combining rich textures and exotic sounds with solid lyrics and incredible vocals. Highlights include "Fastlove" (a funky 90s-style hit), "Older," (a complex, smoky, emotive piece), "The Strangest Thing" (a post-modern Euro-Asian dance sound), "Star People" (a soulful hit in the great 70s R&B tradition), and "You have Been Loved" (not commerical by any means, but beautifully and creatively crafted). Overall, George has proven that you CAN make good music without pandering to Top 40 radio. He may be older, but he sure is wiser too.

George Michael's new album "Older" is his best work yet!! For a fan who's been waiting for a while, it may appear to be a bit too mellow at first but, after the second time you listen to each song, the great combination of his entrancing voice with each wonderous note of his hypnotic music leaps out and takes you prisoner. For me there's no turning back. If I'm not listening to the album, I'm humming it, singing it, or just thinking about it. I wish him all the success he deserves and I hope he won't be shunned out of anything just because he stands for what he believes in. Stay at #1 FOREVER!!!!

Absolutely his best album to date I believe. Really moved me the first, second, third etc... times I've listened to it.

Older is a true piece of artistic genious. My hat goes off to George for creating a sophisticated, beautifully crafted album of songs written from the heart. He could have easily written another album like Faith that would have received more acclaim, but instead he wrote songs with real meaning. Older is truly his best work to date.

I havent baught any of his other albums but I have always taught abouht buying one. When I first heard "Fast Love" on MTV I knew that it was an ablbum worth every penny. After listning to it I couldnt put it away. I got more then I had expected and I still cant put it away. If you are thinking of buying it: DO IT KNOW. You wount be disapionted. George mixes differnt stiles with very feeling. From dancefilling "Fast love" to jazzy "Older" and "Spinning the wheel". I really recomend it, to everyone with a mature taste of music.

a logical progression for michael. "move on" is probably the best song, it captures all that he's been through, and has a killer melody. "jesus to a child" is a good song, but far from great. molasses slow, it sounds as though he has one of these on evey album and he's always trying to out perform the last one. from "careless whisper" to "a different corner" to "one more try" to "praying for time" (note: "kissing a fool" and "cowboys and angels" can also fall in this category) and now "jesus". it's too thick sounding. "spinning that wheel", "older", and "star people" are all fine songs. "fastlove" was a little too hyped and didn't become the big hit everybody thought it would be. that song is again good, but far from great. some of this material sounds like stuff he had in reserve while waiting to settle his legal affairs. don't misunderstand me, this is a really good album, and i truly recommend it to anyone who enjoys good craftmanship, but after the astonishing "listen without prejudice", "older" sounds, well, older. again it's a good step forward, in the right direction; now i'm waiting for "listen without prejudice vol.II. shrug.

Undoubtedly the best album i've heard in my 24 years. Older, wiser, better... that's what his music becomes over the years. From youthful energy in his early works to pain in 'Listen...' now he gets to understanding. Philosophic at first sight, fascinating at second, intoxicating then and forever... Strikingly exquisite musically (a rare quality nowadays), so close and intimate - it gets into the very depth of your soul and comforts you when there's.... One of the few masterpieces that leaves every listener touched, and, - changed.

I am a 39 year old African American woman in Memphis, Tennessee USA, who has loved the sound of this great singer''s voice since his WHAM! days. George''s music moves me and this album, OLDER, takes him to a new level as a performer. His vocal range is incredible and he makes you feel by his delivery. This is the best and most in depth album to date. Not that the others were not good. They were in there time but OLDER is a masterpiece. As a side note my two favorite songs not on the album but on the Greatest Hits are, "A Different Corner," and "Don''t Let the Sun Go Down on Me." I LOVE THESE SONGS and was so glad that they were on the greatest hits. While vacationing in Las Vegas, the valet people stole my CD single of "Don''t Let the Sun Go Down on Me." It took me 3 years of waiting before I was able to get it again on the Greatest Hits. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE George Michael.
