Is it true that 'Music' was elected 'Best 20th Century Single'? Well, I would've done that!

With its fine opening, commencing with delicate piano and vocals, then kicking into a 7/8 guitar hook and full orchestra, you know you''re in for a treat. Miles here performs a wide variety of vocal stylings and "voices," using his upper range as well as his lower (which is familiar to many from his APP work). He even manages to sound a bit like some other artists on tracks 6, 7 and 8 (Elton John, Stevie Wonder and Roger Hodgson respectively) but this is just a sign of his vocal versatility. Of course, his excellent musicianship on piano and guitar should not be overlooked and, on this lush but rocky album, it is accompanied throughout by the deft orchestrations of Andrew Powell. The messages and often dark and critical of the immoralities of excessive wealth: this lends a consistent outlook to the songs and justifies the title. Great stuff! (Ian C. Thomas)
Definitely 70`s dates material here, but it does contain afew gems. If you are an Alan Parsons fan you`ll probablylike Rebel (Parsons produced & engineered it)
