Comments for Morissette, Alanis, Jagged Little Pill

Fantastic album, everyone who hears it either loves it or gets VERY upset! Wish there were more pics! Cant wait for a tour! Serge!

A lyrically strong album with a powerful rock core. Alanis' lyrics are the album's strong suit, articulately expressed in a very distinctive way. She covers traveled road in unque manner from the alienation of "Perfect" to the first single "You Oughta Know", an in-your-face anthem to a past boyfriend. Alanis alternately snarls, then coos lyrics, wringing emotional content out of simple words due to her phrasing and emphasis. This is NOT an album you can sing along with the first time you hear it. Morissette challenges the listener to not only comprehend the lyrics, but derive her meaning from them. An impressive freshman effort from from a truly potential industry leading artist. --Scott Hunt ItsMeEvil@Aol.com

Let's be clear here: THIS IS NOT A DEBUT ALBUM. Her first two albums are only available in Canada, and apparently they suck.. But hey, she like 16 or something at the time.

Yes, I have at least one of her earlier albums...Alanis. Its dance-type music...definitely not as good as this album...This album rocks!

This is a autobiography that even my gay English teacher would enjoy analysing

Myself, Ben and Becky think Alanis is great. The lyrics in particular are the paradigm of beauty. Her salient single, 'Hand in my Pocket' was great. The next single should be either 'Ironic' or 'Right through you'. Philip probably wouldn't like it.

THIS CD IS AWESOME...THE HIDDEN TRACK IS THE BEST SONG ON THE WHOLE CD. IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT, LET THE LAST SONG PLAY ALL THE WAY THROUGH AND WAIT UNTIL THE TIMER SAYS 5:12 AND THE SONG WILL START. IT'S GREAT, IT'S SHOWS YOU HOW PSYCHOTIC PEOPLE GET AFTER A RELATIONSHIP IS OVER. ALANIS SURE KNOWS HOW TO WRITE GREAT SONGS....-ANDI

Yoko Ono sings better. But no one flicks a cigarette like this skank. Cool. Smokin'. Heh heh. Check it out teen angsters. Me, I'm gonna puke.

Morissette is one f'ked up woman. Totally raw, yet obviously corporate. The music arrangements are total studio gloss, but within the lyrics, we find someone who's "not gonna be f'ked with anymore." This ranks up there with some of the edgiest stuff I have ever heard from a female artist. "You Oughta Know" is the best of the tracks here that utilizes Morissette's bent voice. And luckily, you get two versions of it on compact disc.

I agree that the hidden track is great. It is actually the most moving and emotionally direct song on the whole album.

I've found that, all in all, most guys can't get into Alanis' music, mostly because it is very female ascertive. She has creatively said what's on her mind and uses her unpolished voice to convey it. Good for her!

Alanis is an all around good time girl, but you mus admit it.This album rocks.

This album rocks! I love it. My friends and I listen to it 24/7. My mom even likes it!(what's the chances of that?!) I love "Head Over Feet", "Right Through You" and "You Oughta Know". Alanis Rules!
E-MAIL: lady liz
my mom hates it, and i only play it very seldom.
E-MAIL: r-wong@students.uiuc.edu doesn't know shit!!!
'Alanis is a fucked up person'. Ladies and gentlemen, these are the words of a man who spends much of his time entering data and/or more generous comments for chessy pop-dreck artists such as Mariah Carey, Michael Bolton, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Spice Girls, and even Milli Vanilli!!! You should get your facts straight, because you sure as hell don't know what you're talking about. The perfect '10' rating out of a possible 215 votes on this album speaks for itself.

This is one of the most blatant displays of poseurism ever to be released. It sucks big-time!!! I don't think P.G.WARD and the others have good taste in music. I think ***alanis*** SUCKS! And goes down on Glen Ballard too.
E-MAIL: Glen Ballard
Alanis, my wife''s going out of town to visit her mom this weekend. Could we have a repeat - uh - performance of "You Oughta Know"?
Some good angry music. The last track sounds like the version of "You Oughta Know"that they play on the radio _except_ for it`s not censored.
