MBV is definitely NOT GRUNGE (Pearl Jam, ...). This is indeed their first album... And I would add that NEW WAVE (Joy Division, Bauhaus, ...) is more appropriate to describe it.

New wave??? I'm SO SURE! Try shoegazer punk rock ambiant creation. Or try English Alternative? How about simply the BEST BAND ON THE PLANET. Did they really just can the "new" album they just finished?

NOT grunge surely . almost experimental

It is the first album. Group was named after a Canadian horrer B-movie flick. Singer on this album left the band to go on in film then they brought on debbie and belinda. Never judge a band by the first album. I can hardly believe this gothic mix is even the MBV I know. It's interesting but if you want to know the group stick to Loveless or Isn't Anything.

Belinda was actually unnerved to find out she had to play guitar in the band, so they use a bunch of open tunings so i guess she doesn't have to acutally learn chords. Also check out Kevin Sheild's brother's band "Rollerskate Skinny"

This album supposedly sounds alot like "The Birthday Party",..Nick Cave''s old band. Reminded me of the Cramps!! The only MBV album I ever sold back!!!
