Comments for OMD, Orchestral Monoeuvres in the Dark

Iknew I was all alone on this one. The album was pivotable in music for the time. In fact way ahead of it's time and still is. The group went on to pop and never recovered. Can only think that what is not popular does not make it in the mainstream. Kepp pluggin alt rock.

Like much electronica of the early eighties, this album now appears rather dated. It certainly lacks the timeless quality of Kraftwerk. Nonetheless it is a magnificent achievement considering the youth of the duo. The album is especially strong on melody (Messages) and atmosphere (Almost, The Messerchmitt Twins).
