Comments for Oldfield, Mike, The Killing Fields

E-MAIL: lacorata@vxscaq.aquila.infn.it
Well, it's obviously an unconventional album being conceived as movie soundtrack (for which it got a Golden Globe Nomination). The most interesting movements are Pran's theme, which is the leading tune reprised a few times with different tonalities and orchestrations, Requiem for a city, a great lyric passage, and Evacuation, which is built up on the elycopter noise and alarm sounds. Ebherard Schoener directed the Bavarian State Opera Orchestra. G.L.

I didnīt see the film. I only bought the album to listen the music. I was not able to listen, because it was simply terrible. The composer and player could be anyone, there is no typical Mike Oldfield. Maybe that the music is good during the film. Without the film you have to stop the player

Most of this album isn''t anything special, but I have never heard anything as beautiful as "Pran''s Theme" and "The Requiem for a City".
