Comments for Oldfield, Mike, Incantations

One of the most representative albums. The main feature is the elaboration of themes through the transposition over the twelve notes. There are only a small remark that I wish to do... the little excessive duration of "Hiawatha" at the end of side 2. The most beautiful pieces are the first half of side 2 and the introduction to side 4. G.L.

If you're in the mood to relax to some good music, then Incantations is for you. This is Oldfield's conclusion to his traditional long-instrumental format of the seventies. It's very long and sometimes too representative, but in all it's a necessity in anyone's Mike Oldfield collection!

Heavy, heavy, heavy. Definately not for the uninitiated Oldfield fan. But it grows on you...

Not for all tastes, but it works very well if you are inside, in the Oldfield clan. If you don't sleep into its second part (it wouldn't have to happen) Incantations will offer you some memorable passages. (Carlos Martínez)

I find this one of the most rewarding albums that Mike has done. I get something new out of it every time I listen.

One of the most enjoyable albums by Mike. At times it´s very monotonous, yet it induces a tranquil dance through the musical espectre. Part 4 had me almost sleeping, then it suddenly broke it with a heavy guitar that made my heart jump out of my trance, it was exciting!

If you like classical music, you''ll find this the best album to begin educating your ears to Mike Oldfield''s music. Very cerebral in structure, yet light in its execution. You will need headphones for Part One and a concert speaker tower set for Part Three. Parts Two and Four simply require the moon...
