Weeeell, again, it's not all bad. The Lake IS a long instrumental piece (around 8 minutes I think). The songs aren't bad, in fact they're amongst his better songs. Just compare to the songs on Islands or Earth Moving...but yes, his songs don't stand up to his instrumental works.

This is my favourite Oldfield album. I like these songs more than instrumentals, but I like Tubular Bells II and Songs of Distant Earth too. I like the good melodies of the songs contained by this album. I love Maggie Reilly's voice much, so my favourite songs are sung by her. (Tricks of the Light, Crystal Gazing, etc.)

Well, it's not bad at all. Released during a period of great popularity, due to "Crises", it follows the way of commercial success with very nice songs but also a brilliant "short" instrumental track, "The Lake", one of my preferred. G. L.

Moody, maybe rounded by and "auttum aura", Discovery is a good excursion into a set of very clean pop songs. I like "To France", "Talk about your Life". "The Lake" is epic, but too short, I think. Nice disc, but doesn't make me crazy. (Carlos Martinez)

This is a message for a guy who says that "Discovery" is one of his best albums ( even the best ). Listen 'Mac' you are 100% cloth-eared nincompoop and a person who needs doctor's ( professional ) help imidietly. Don't get this too serious "Discovery" fans but you adore popy songs shit and you don't know anything about truely beautiful music. Kamil & Grzegorz from POLAND

I only heard this album for the first time last Friday and I quite like it, though the more powerful songs are no quite like, say, "Shadow on the wall" from Crises. The album in general is more of a whole than Crises, which does more credit to the music. And it''s great to sing along with; especially "To France". Kim in The Netherlands.
Yet another installment of the "Let`s see if we can make apop album that will sell a million copies and make me a gazillion dollars". Give it up and stick to what you do best,Mike. Long instrumental peices ...
