Comments for Ozric Tentacles, Afterswish

This is a compilation of tracks from their first 5 studio albums, unitl 1993(?) released only on cassetes. Really a great listening. I suspect that some of the tracks are edited (couple of them which are taken from "There is nothing" are probably longer). The first CD shows more extrovert part of the band with headlong rushing guitarwork and rhythms, which towards the end of a CD slow down a bit and end up in absolutely fantastic "Zaii!" (unavailable elsewhere). The second CD reveals mellower side of their art. Generally, this is a rare CD-set, where one cannot point out a weak track - these are two hours of wonderful musical harmony.

All I can say is that the first time I heard the Ozrics was the track "It''s a Hup Ho World" from this set and essentially sold me completely on this band. The guitar tone and style on that one track so completely emulated the best elements of Steve Hillage''s guitar style along with a fabulous musical style that I had to have the disc. So I bought all the Ozrics I could find on that fateful day. Must have listening and the liner notes will clue you in to who these people are and where they came together. An essential set.

I was not into Ozric Tentacles. But after buying Afterswish on CD, I am a convert. I listen to it constantly. Very good. I will now try to get some other albums by Ozric Tentacles and Eat Static.
