Comments for Parton, Dolly, Fairest of Them All, TheE-MAIL: mthivier@bidmc.harvard.edu The arrangements are very traditional (almost "old fashioned") Porter Wagoner-arranged country. The songs themselves, however, are ground-breaking, in that Parton shows that, as a songwriter, there''s very little (in terms of subject matter) she won''t cover. Here, she writes about incest, insanity, teen pregnancy and sexism, and she does so in such a deft and understated way that the listner is not clubbed over the head with a "message." A real achievement Comments supplied by users do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Roadkill Consulting, Inc. |
