****1/2 (5 star scale) Undoubtfully the masterpiece of underground rock. Pavement's one of these bands where no matter how much the media tries to exploit them, they will never catch on with the big-time crowd. They're too slackish to give a rat's ass what other people think. I guess that's for the better, in the long run. --j.teel

Yeah, like everone else, I caught the Slanted and Enchanted fever. But I don't travel down that dead end no more. For me, now it's strictly Heart of Lothian, the piece de resistance from Marillion. It is a song of such purity, such epic power, such chuztpa, that it makes me cry!

What an album! They are a top band and along with the pixies hard to classify ***** rating their best in front of Wowwee Zowwee! Malkmus is alegend and we need a pavement www page! Adam Brooks is a George! Best song is Zurich is stained! Silver Jews are good too! Great to see the Paves touring Australia in in the new year of 96! The drummer steve west looks like poin dexter off revenge of the nerds, but he is a leg He looks like kelly watsons boyfriend too and Micheal neil who was a rugby league player for Balmain in Syndey. Anyway the paves lead the way in indie rock cicles!

if you think that slanted is good, check out one called "westing(by musket and sextant)." this is an unbelievably different pavement than you are used to hearing. the album is very raw and heavy; actually quite punky. whatever the case, if you love pavement, you will kill for this one.

Pavement''s masterpiece. Possibly the greatest album of all time.
