Pretty darn good for a second album if you ask me! But then again I LOVE Pearl Jam!(biased opinion?)

Great album!!! Listen to Rearviewmirror. It's such a cool song. Then again the entire album is cool. I love Pearl Jam!!!!! Eddie has the best voice than any other singer.

Pearl Jam RULE!!!

their best album yet. the guitars are cool and dave's drumming is excellent. my vote for best songs are rats (with the cool outro) and dissident (the riff is beautiful). a better album than ten, and probably better than vitalogy.

From the first song, Go, until the last, Indifference, this album rocks. Rearviewmirror is the best damn song I have ever heard!!!!!

OK. This is a quite good record. But I don't like some of the songs... :( But... "GO" _rulez_!!!
E-MAIL: kenjp@aol.com
What are you talking about?? Eddie has one of the shittiest voices in the history of music!!!

Hey, I LOVED Ten, but what happened here? Don't get me wrong, there are some pretty killer tracks (rearviewmirror for example--the chorus just rocks me) but I think this is still a step down for them. Definitely one of the rare groups that sounds better live than recorded. What a concept!

Leash definitely kicks some major ass. check out mookie blaylock play if you gett a chance. the singer is quite similar to eddie.

I´m not the kind of person that uses to be nostalgic, but when you take a step back, what else can you do? Sure, there are certain songs that could make it into "Ten" ("Go", "Glorified G", "Rearviewmirror" and "Animal"), but the harmony that was found in "Ten" seems to be minimized. On the other hand, that performance of "Animal" in the MTV awards was quite energetic! THE TRUE GHOST RIDER.

Vs. was the first Pearl Jam album I bought, and the best. I feel Eddie Vedder goes down deeper into his vast pool of lyrical ability to create such a dark masterpiece. "Blood", "Go", and "Rearviewmirror" all demonstrate his ability to combine lyric quality with some seriously convincing music. This is a great album.

Although not completely unredeamable, "Vs." doesn't even come close to matching the level of its predecessor, "Ten". The first track, "Go" is a very good rocker, and "Dissident" was an adequate single, but the album's sole stand-out track is the wonderful "Rearviewmirror". "Rearviewmirror" hints at brilliance for the band which, sadly, they do not appear to be following up on. The rest of the album descends into "generic Pearl Jam" and no other tracks really distinguish themselves. Perhaps most disconcertingly Vedders rage and pain, so important in the success of "Ten", almost seems pleading here; at times he seems more concerned with wanting YOU to believe that he is suffering from internal turmoil, rather than just being there. Too bad...

Will go down as one of the most influential albums (cds?) of the late twentieth century.

Millions loved Pearl Jam's 1st album Ten. I was not one of them. I don't like "grunge" bands like Nirvana or Stone Temple Pilots or any of those. But with Vs. Pearl Jam begins to show that they are the most versatile band in this genre since some of the songs like Daughter, Glorified G and especially Elderly Woman... are actually melodic and well written. The rest of Vs. wasn't as strong but on their next album, Viatology, continues their artistic growth even further.

I`VE BEEN A FAN OF PEARL JAM SINCE I FIRST HEARD 'TEN' IN `91 AND HAVE ALL THEIR ALBUMS SO FAR RIGHT UP TO 'NO CODE' (MY LEAST FAVOURITE)- 'VS' IS THE BEST ACCORDING TO ME. KILLER TRACKS BEING 'GO', 'GLORIFIED G', 'REARVIEWMIRROR', 'LEASH' AND ERRR, ALL THE REST. A MUST HAVE CD (OR VINYL IF THAT WAY INCLINED)

One of the best albums of ALL-TIME....
E-MAIL: dcp@iwaynet.net
pretty simple: it ain't ten, but then again, what recorded since then has been? the band takes risks on this album, and most of them pay off.

JLOWE, HERE WE GO AGAIN. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE YOU TO REALIZE THAT CRAPPY, PEPPY, PSEUDO-SATIRICAL BRITISH INDIE POP IS NOT ALL THERE IS TO MUSIC? THIS ALBUM IS EXCELLENT AND IT'S NOT AT ALL ABOUT INTERNAL TURMOIL (AT LEAST NOT MOST OF IT, MAYBE JUST BLOOD AND LEASH). THERE ARE SOME GOOD BALLADS ON THIS (LIKE INDIFFERENCE AND ELDERLY WOMAN) BUT MOST OF THE SONGS ARE RATHER TOPICAL LIKE GLORIFIED G, DISSIDENT AND REARVIEWMIRROR. IF YOU WANT A REAL VIEWPOINT ON PEARL JAM VISIT THE FAN SITE AT WWW.PROAXIS.COM/DRUASLOXIAS (BUT IT'S MOVED NOW TO WWW.POND.NET/~CURTIS/).
