Comments for Pearl Jam, Vitalogy

I am very impressed with the two melodic songs Betterman & Nothingman... You can almost feel Ed Veds soul pouring out of those two tunes....I`m sure they will end up taking some heat on these two tracks simply because of the fact that the songs are easier on the ears than say Spin the Black Circle.. this simply shows just how versatile these guys are !!!! jw

The more you listen to it, the better it gets ! Especially "Immortality", "Whipping", "Corduroy" and "Nothingman". You got a hell of a voice, eddie !

Eddie is God
E-MAIL: samos@beothuk.swgc.mun.ca
The best band to ever walk the face of this earth. Probably their best.
E-MAIL: fp048@freenet-in-c.cwru.edu
Better then Vs., but not as good as Ten
E-MAIL: ssowder@ind.edu
Pearl Jam is probably one of the best groups of musicians to ever record a single song?
E-MAIL: dstenfte@indiana.edu
The songs in Vitology and the other albums as well goes to show that Pearl Jam has a virtually endless inventory of excellent songs. I think that they could quite possible be the best band of the decade!
E-MAIL: gourde@badlands.NoDak.edu
There was a time when I would buy every album that PJ put out. That was during "Ten". I bought "Vs." and sold it. I never even thought of buying "Vitology". Man, is that a shitty album. Any band who reproduces classic rock has just about zero talent. But PJ can do it and people don't care. "It's gotta be good if it's by PJ", is a statement of the past. If Stone and Jeff were the main songwriters as on "Ten", things would be alot different, but I guess Edward's got all the power. How 'bout Eddie Vedder and the Pearl Jams?
E-MAIL: bill@access.com
they are really growing in the scope of their lyrics. musically they have always been top notch, back to the Mother Love Bone and Temple of the Dog days, but the early Pearl Jam lyrics were always very personal to Eddie.
E-MAIL: les125@duke.usask.ca
There is little doubt that Mr. Vedder and Pearl Jam have an over-abundance of musical talent. But this, in no way, should allow a band with such frightening potential to release an album with 10 minutes or more of nothing but "filler tunes". Perhaps the band should have taken more time to create actual songs and less "Privacy", "Bugs", and "Stupidmop". It seems that the highlights of this album are always found in the slower, more melodic pieces such as "Immortality" and "Nothingman". Also, PJ should invest some of their hard-earned money on an actual producer - the sound quality of the album is pitiful. Perhaps Eddie would term it "creative expression".
E-MAIL: rmercuri@cmp.com
A couple more albums like this and they will without a doubt be recognized as one of the greatest groups ever
E-MAIL: magne@gaupe.nih.no
A different album.I will recomend "Not for you", it's a great rock song!
E-MAIL: cslight@is.dal.ca
Pearl Jam just keeps getting better and better. Not as good as Vs., but still awesome!
E-MAIL: rsalonen@carins.cariboo.bc.ca
This is a great album, i especially like the track "Better man"
E-MAIL: Dgordon@mickey.cariboo.bc.ca
What is with you people this album sux first of all it makes no sense. It sounds like the took a bunch of old records and played them all at once in a feeble attempt to make some music. Don't get me wrong I like Pearl Jam but please. It was like they were in dire need of something to put out. I am afraid that this album will turn most people off of Pearl Jam
E-MAIL: @usccmail:dwasserm
It is not so much Vitalogy "sux" as a whole, but it does only in comparison to Vs and Ten. Unfortunately, this album sounds as though the boys were trying a bit too hard to vary their sound and to remain eclectic. Indeed, it ends up very self-conscious and indulgent (hear pry,to; Stupidmop, and Bugs). Ten was such an extraordinary masterpiece; the songs were played and sung through an emotional meat grinder. Vs had its searingly beautiful moments, (Indifference, Animal) but their anger-filled intensity had begun to crumble a bit at the edges. I don't think every album they record should be a rehash of Ten, but damn, I hope they eventually recapture that initial fire that fueled them when they were bitter and hungry.

HELLO!!! Eventhough I believe that Pearl Jam(not PJ) is presently one of the best bands, and by far my favorite ever. I strongly feel that Vitalogy has to be their worst album ever. Yes, I will admit that some of the songs are incredible(any real fans will know which songs I am talking about) the album as a whole sucks. Songs like Spin the Black Circle and Bugs have to be their worst songs ever. Any person who claims to be a Pearl Jam fan and dubs Vitalogy as their best album is only a poser. Only the real fans would know what their best music is.
E-MAIL: mtc121@psu.edu
Well, apparently I'm not a "real" Pearl Jam fan because I don't exactly subscribe to the idea that a song is only good if it appears on MTV. Just because tracks off Vitalogy might not be Top 40 Casey Casen songs doesn't mean they're garbage. In fact many "real" Pearl Jam fans as well as real "music" fans, including myself, concur that Vitalogy is their best album. If you want Top 40, go buy Ace of Base.
E-MAIL: dtedards@vms1.cc.uop.edu
Pearl Jam's album 'Vitalogy' is their best album yet. Although I did not like it at first, I cannot go a day with out listening to it. My favorite tracks are 'Last Exit' "Not for You' 'Tremor Christ' 'Nothingman' 'Corduroy' 'Betterman' and 'Immortality' Basically, this whole album rocks. Eddie Vedder, of course, is awesome as always. I can't wait to go see them in San Francisco this summer. To Pearl Jam fans, I would recommend the Italian import "Versus the World", a 1994 disc of 20 live tracks, studio outakes, and the complete MTV unplugged sessions. They do an amazing version of Bab Dylan's 'Masters of War' on this disc. I also recommend the 'Bridge School Benefit' live recording that Pearl Jam did. It is called "In Rock We Trust" ..........Eddie is God!
E-MAIL: bill001@ibm.net
GRUNGE?!?!?!!? Pearl Jam isn't fucking grunge!!! Nirvana is GRUNGE Tad is GRUNGE Mudhoney is GRUNGE Pearl Jam is NOT
E-MAIL: jmg@melbpc.org.com.au
FUCK YOU to everyone who says Pearl Jam sux they're fucking ledgends and they go off!
E-MAIL: kenjp@aol.com
How can you say that Eddie Vedder has a great voice?? The guy sounds like he's being strangled when he sings! If you like Pearl Jam, then more power to you, but if I hear Eddie's obnoxious gutteral voice again, I think that I'll puke.
E-MAIL: ramage@slu.edu
well, well its a good album that could have been great i mean what is with the throwaway tracks? (pryto, bugs etc.) It just seems that if they can come up with great stuff like corduroy and not for you, they can skip the spontanous bull shit that obviously didn't work. I admire that they tried some stuff but I think they need to step back and say "now does that sound cool?" anyway i just hope the radio doen't kill nothingman or not for you, or whipping. who knows, they missed release somehow which was prob. the crowd fav at the show I saw. Anyway they have an album due late '95 lets hope it rocks..
E-MAIL: s327857@student.uq.edu.au
Vitalogy is their shittiest album to date. Despite the way the band carries on about only wanting a certain type of fan ala Not For You, this is the album that most departs from their grungy roots. Too many ballads and not enough McCready riffs. Also I was pissed at getting four dud songs when I bought it on trust (aye davanita, bugs, pry to & stupid mop). Bring back Ten and Versus or go listen to Soundgarden instead.
E-MAIL: tag109@email.psu.edu
"Eddie is God"....what a pathetic time we live in...The one time I listened to this album was the last.
E-MAIL: s325961@student.uq.edu.au
the only saving grace of this record lies in the tracks nothingman, corduory and immortality. the rest is not really up to par with what they have already done. and what the hell is stupid mop? why did that have to be there? talk about your rock excesses. are they only interested in alienating some of their fans? more importantly, why axe dave? the next album had better have some cool songs on it, 'cause dave won't be there to save it.
E-MAIL: mlr/lib@cbs.dk.
Pearl Jam DID use an outside producer on "Vitalogy", namely Brendan O'Brian. With him as co-producer, I think that Pearl Jam has managed to make an absolutely awesome album. It did'nt catch me the first couple of times I listened to it. But now I think it's their best ever!!
E-MAIL: rnagla@dir.ca
Hi? Well all i've got to say(or write)is that Pearl Jam has had it's up's and downs.Last years album"Vitology"seemed good for me.Some songs they could have done good without. But truly this album released the somewhat "real"Pearl Jam.Hey!!There are only human!I mean some people do think Eddie is god, but that's their opinon. To those writing B.S.about Pearl Jam maybe you shouldn't listen to them if you don't like them.I think people don't realize that they are such nice people. Believe me I've met them!PEARL JAM rock on Bye?
E-MAIL: gtuo@dir.com
Hey you who says Pearl Jam isn't grunge!!Why don't you define the word "grunge" to me?? What the hell is grunge? I think the whole Seattle thing is grunge and Pearl Jam's from Seattle right? So duh!! Of course they must be grunge! What else could they be?Country? I think not. Smarten up before you put comments like that in or just check your head like the Beastie Boys.
E-MAIL: jlowe@central.georcoll.on.ca
Its hard to believe that "Ten" was released only five years ago; the talent that once seemed to be over-abundent in Pearl Jam has completely dissapeared. While "Ten" remains one of the better American rock albums of this decade, Eddie Vedder has proven himself to be one of the most annoying and fake performers in the world today. "Vitalogy" can best be described as "generic Pearl Jam", the songs all sound the same, have similar topics and, after first listen, only serve to prove that Vedder is hopelessly desperate to convince the listener than just because he's a millionaire doesn't mean that his life doesn't suck. My advice, get out your copy of "Ten" and imagine that it was Vedder, and not the enourmously talented Kurt Cobain, who shot himself. Then, just maybe, we wouldn't have to put up with this garbage about Pearl Jam being the best band in the world because clearly, they are not.

I like Eddie cuase he drinks too much and sings good music-long live vynal

Pearl Jam is the most kick ass group of all time. There are none higher. Eddie Vedder is my god I pray to him every day.
E-MAIL: michael-amadon@augustana.edu
Try playing "pry to backwards.... this album is full of subliminal messages. so many subtleties it never gets old
E-MAIL: goebel@bigdog.engr.arizona.edu
Fuck all you Pearl Jam non-faithful. Why are you even on this page if you hate Pearl Jam so much. Go to the Candlebox page and communicate with the other poseurs. Eddie is true in all he does and who are you to criticize him? Peace, love, and Pearl Jam...
E-MAIL: rotten@csd.uwm.edu
A total absence of musical talent, combined with nonsensical lyrics, makes for one of the worst albums ever. However, since it's "cool" to be into "alternative" I better pretend that I like them. Lord knows, I wouldn't want to go against the mob mentality.

Pearl Jam is the best group grung group ever. AND VITALOGY RULES. VITALOGY is the best album ever. EDDIE IS A GOD.

A truly superb album. this is a must by for your Pearl Jam collection .All the tracks are unique to there cause and rapport. You will not be disappointed
E-MAIL: eddie@hrecords
OK This is me,EDDIE VEDDER.I saw all the shit you guys put about me.People who think of me as a god?Well guys I'm NOT! I thought I should put that down. But thanks for your inquires I can't believe what people think about VITALOGY?It's not fucking shit.I put out this album to show all the feelings I had inside of me.I had a lot of anger inside of me when I wrote these songs.BUT there not suppose to be perfect shit, you know.I don't think I lost my mind or anything.PEARL JAM's new album is coming out in fall.I can't tell you what's it's called but watch for it.Now how the hell do I get out of here?
E-MAIL: tjcompto@bloomu.edu
I think Ten was by far there best album, and probably will be forever, but the way they can make such different songs is amazing I didn't like Vitology at first, but the more I listened to it the more I liked it. My favorite song is Courdoroy, but I also like Betterman, Not for You, Immortality, Tremor Christ, and Nothingman. The one song that should be burned (that is if you call it a song) is stupid mop.
E-MAIL: gcrous@iafrica.com
i fucking love eddie!...vague...
E-MAIL: FLUFFYQ@HOTMAIL.JLOWE.IS.SHIT.COM
MAN, YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT PEARL JAM! STOP INTERPRETING ALL HIS SONGS AS IF EDDIE IS SOME JACKOFF NARCISSIST LIKE YOUR FAGGOT HERO KURT COBAIN! EXCEPT FOR NOT FOR YOU, PRY TO AND BUGS, NONE OF THESE SONGS ARE ABOUT PRESS HARRASMENT! AS FOR STUPID MOP, HOW COME YOU NEVER SAID ANYTHING WHEN KURT COBAIN MADE A JERK-OFF SONG LIKE SOMETHING IN THE WAY? I MEAN, KURT HAD ANGST TO SPARE, BUT COULD HE EVER WRITE LYRICS LIKE ''TREMOR CHRIST'', ''SATAN''S BED'', OR ''NOTHINGMAN''? THAT LITTLE FAG SPENT ALL HIS TIME MOURNING ABOUT HIS ???ABUSED??? CHILDHOOD, BUT EDDIE LEAVES ALL THAT CRAP BEHIND HIM AND WROTE A REALLY GREAT SONG ABOUT WIFE ABUSE, WHICH YOU PROBABLY THOUGHT (BEING A MORON) WAS A LOVE SONG - BETTER MAN. DIE YOU FREUDIAN MISINTERPRETER! ROT IN HELL AND WIN 100000 BOOKER PRIZES!
The album is great mix of classic rock, and "alternative music"
lsksucks@hotmail.com
hey gtuo@dir.com Pearl Jam really isn't grunge. Grunge is much more than just Seattle and the early 90's. Take a listen to bands like Mudhoney, Green River and (early) Nirvana and Soundgarden, and maybe you'll get a grip on yourself. But who cares? If you really need to lock every fucking band into a sub-genre, then fucking do it.
