Comments for Phish, A Picture of Nectar

This is one of my favorite phish album. A must try for anyone who has ever heard phish.

Phish's "breakthru" album, A Picture of Nectar shows Phish's enormous range and potential. From country ("Poor Heart,") Santanaesque Latin ("The Landlady",) Jazz ("Magilla") straight-ahead rock "Chalk Dust Torture," Phish slides in and out of these different styles without appearing like posers and still mantaining their unique identity. Musically, their as sound as any band working today. They improvise with the best and command a great musical vocabulary of styles. Lyrically, they usually get knocked for spouting geeky nonsense but songs like "The Mango Song" (about heroin addiction) display some depth. This album balances the pop bent of their newest albums (like Hoist) and their earlier jam oriented efforts well. If you're a new phan, this is probably the album to start with (outside of getting good live bootlegs.)

Great album, the one that got me into Phish. Just a side note: The real title for "Faht" is "Windham Hell," but Elektra didn't want to worry about a lawsuit. That's too bad, it's a great parody.

They're just a bunch of Grateful Dead wannabees

Who ever wrote "they're just a bunch of grateful dead wannabe's" obviously hasn't listened to much of either band. I find very little in common with the two groups music. Maybe you should listen before you add you stupid comments.
