Comments for Pink Floyd, P.U.L.S.E.

This is an excellent album (but still not as good as The Wall). There is a longer and angrier "Run Like Hell" than is awesome, as well as "Shine on You Crazy Diamond." This is a must have for all Floyd fans.

better than Delicate sound

I agree that this is album is a must for anyone who listens to Pink Floyd. The version of 'Wish you Were Here' was improved again after the already impressive version in the "Shine On" box set. Also, the synthesizer parts in 'Comfortably Numb' gave it a little extra "mellowing" effect that's quite nice. I highly recommend Pulse.

Well, it's a great live album. It contains some of the best PF stuff, especially DSoTM live. I miss one of my favorite classic on this selection. It's ECHOES. I wonder why they didn't play it live for such a long time, because it's their best composition ever. Many of the songs are also on Delicate Sound of Thunder, so why did they repeated them ? I have to admit, that some of the songs are even better on PULSE then on Delicate, because they are closer to the album versions, especially TIME and WYWH. The main reason to buy PULSE was the whole live version of DTSoM, which is great, but the original is still the best !!!

If you have Delicate Sound of Thunder, you may not need this as many songs are duplicates, but yet you get Dark Side of the Moon stuff.... Great recording, but this time analogue.

To hear Gilmour do vocal justice to Brain Damage/Eclipse makes it quite clear which one was Pink in the end.

A great album where Pink Floyd played live. They showed that their live-sound is as their studio-sound. A good album with a good athmosphere

Gilmour must need money, why else would he resort to such a commercial move as releasing a live album just two albums after the last live one? And especially with so many of the songs on the 1st one included again on this one?
E-MAIL: gclark@init.njit.edu
Wanna talk about commercial albums? Well, there's one out there called "The Wall". It ranks first among all Pink Floyd albums in terms of commercial merchandising (t-shirts, tooth brushes, phone dialers, etc.,..)and publicity. BTW, did I forget to mention that it's based entirely on an idea conceived by Roger Waters? It seems as though R.W. needs the money more than anyone else in the music industry. Afterall, all he ever does is whine about the poor sales of his last 2 solo albums.
E-MAIL: va2396@freenet.uchsc.edu
Why make such a commercial move after just 2 albums? Why not? At least Mr. Gilmour was able to make money on his tour unlike "The Wall" which came out on the minus dept. Waters might be a lyrical genius as you claim him to be, but his intelligence overall is that of a fruit fly..the guy is always putting his foot in his mouth. Like the time when he had the audacity to accuse Gilmour of living a life luxury and extravagence, only to show off his own english country estate on an episode of "The Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous"! Now, that's what I call hypocrisy! It's too bad he hasn't run for office, because he has all of the requirements necessary!
E-MAIL: bmcfa@ecosys.drdr.virginia.edu
Ok, Mr. know-it-all genius. If you think you can do better than Gilmour, then be my guest! Let us know when your album finally goes platinum.

I thought this was a place for reviews to be posted, not a debate forum...so only positive reviews are allowed, huh? By the way, i didn't say a thing about the Wall...don't put words in my mouth.
E-MAIL: DON'T GOT ONE
DOES ANYONE KNOW OF ANY CATALOGS THAT HAVE PINK FLOYD STUFF CAN YOU POST IT HERE. THANKS A LOT
E-MAIL: gclark@init.njit.edu
PLEASE DON'T PUT WORDS INTO MY MOUTH. I never said anything about YOU mentioning "The Wall". I WILL have to say that you're a righteous hypocrite for lauding Waters and criticizing Gilmour's commercial direction, when no other Floyd member (past or present) excels in the art better than the former. Just remember this...it was "Dark Side of the Moon", and not "The Division Bell" that remained on the Billboard Top 200 - POP/ROCK chart for 15 consecutive years. Cont. next message...
E-MAIL: gclark@init.njit.edu
Alongside with "The Wall", it is one of the most memorable commercial albums ever released in modern music history!!! But, you probably already knew that. To say that one guy is great and the other sucks is very narrow-minded and self-centered on your part. Instead, it would've been better to imply that you preferred one over the other. Under Gilmour, PF has its own unique sound as it did with Waters and Barrett before him. It's difficult to compare two musical styles that are about as similar to each other as apples and oranges are...
E-MAIL: umrk@ra.isisnet.com
You wanna debate? Go to the news group, alt.music.pink.floyd , not here... leave this for reviews only, good OR BAD...just can't handle a negative review, huh?.. By the way, please don't tell me what I should have said, I know what I'm talking about, you have no say about my opinions!!!!!
E-MAIL: burnett@roadkill.com
Excuse me...you are as much to blame as your predecessors for spawning this senseless debate. Your initial hostile ramblings is defintely negative, but by far no means a review. Don't expect a cordial response from others if you intend to insult them and the artists with immature name calling. Also, I don't appreciate it when users like you and gclark@init.njit.edu alter the ratings on purpose with repeated submissions. Please limit the no. of ratings to 1 per album. Do not abuse this system!
E-MAIL: burnett@roadkill.com
The recent ongoing problem of repeated ratings submissions has brought to my attention the need for stricter security. I am considering the removal of the ratings system altogether if this kind of abuse continues. I have invested many hours of my own free time into making this database free and accessible to all in the Internet community, and would like it to continue this way.... Please limit your ratings to 1 per album. For those who fail to follow this simple guideline, just remember one thing. Your ACTUAL e-mail address is automatically registered and recorded on log regardless of what you enter. Don't try my patience and think that I won't prosecute to the fullest!!!
E-MAIL: gclark@init.njit.edu
Sorry 'bout that, Andy. IT won't happen again. AS far as I'm concerned, this subjet is history. BTW, I got your e-mail file today. Thanks!!!!

I am going to say this about "P.U.L.S.E"--If you own no other Pink Floyd live cd's let it be this one. I was thoroughly impressed by the level of musicianship on this cd, and no I never did own the version with the blinking light! Other than the artwork-which is absolutely extraordinary! P.U.L. S.E. contains the best versions of the songs from "The Division Bell" and "A Momentary Lapse Of Reason." Each song has a renewed freshness about it, possibly with the exception of "Sorrow!" A real masterpiece can be found in "High Hopes!" The live version of this work is much better than the studio version. Additionally, the older songs from "Wish You Were Here," "The Wall" and "Dark Side Of The Moon" exhibit a renewed freshness! An absolutely superb live album, and my 6th favorite cd set overall. An outstanding cd which definitely rates a 10/10 or 5 stars!!!!

by the release of this album it has been proven that their is life after waters. With dave gilmour at the helm the band seems to be functioning much better. Lets not forget that without the outstanding musicianship of dave gilmour the floyd would have been lost after barret. for any floyd fan this album is as essential to have as ''dark side'' or ''meddle''. the seering guitar solo in comfortably numb (music written by gilmour) is worthy of much praise and reafirms dave''s possition as a world class guitarist.
fucking buy this album!!!!!!!!
