****1/2 One of the all time best cult classic films and records. PRIME CUTS-- Got to list them all. --J.TEEl
E-MAIL: yc582music.ferris.edu
My pen-pal sent me a taste of Pink Floyd. And, much to my surprise, I liked them. And for my b-day in 1995 I am asking for these cds. I hope to get it. I like this type of music. I hope that people from all over enjoy this cd. :P
E-MAIL: jukka@spiff.astro.uu.se
Great record (!) and shows the ingenious mind of Roger Waters.
E-MAIL: mu21mp@surrey.ac.uk
This was the first Floyd album I listened to. I loved it. It has the right sounds to fit any mood that you find yourself in, and is stunningly put together. I'm off to listen to it now. Go and do likewise - you'll not regret it!
E-MAIL: rossj@bgnet.bgsu.edu
this album has changed my life and when I am ever stressed out i listen to this group and they relax me.
E-MAIL: xavier@utkvx.utk.edu
To say this is a great album is an understatement.
E-MAIL: javiera@rain.org
Perhaps the greatest, most emotional piece of music ever recorded! And no, I donıt think Iım exagerating.
E-MAIL: afn21002@freenet.ufl.edu
WATCH the movie "The Wall"!!! Rent it on video. It is great and helps anybody understand the lyrics.
E-MAIL: 94wi030@bama9.ba-mannheim.de
It's one of these albums, you can't get enough of hearing it. I like it very much, because it shows the real nature of human beings.
E-MAIL: geoff@teledata.mhs.compuserve.com
This album was, is, and always will be, the definitive Pink Floyd classic. To me, it represents a syntheisis of all that the Floyd stand for. As a medium of expression, it goes beyond mere music and into the realm of pure feeling. A masterpiece.
E-MAIL: ajoshi@eecs.wsu.edu
Alltime great! Comparable only with 'The Dark Side Of The Moon'!!
E-MAIL: Chris
This fantastic album displays the godlike writting abilities of Roger Waters
E-MAIL: http://www.uwasa.fi/~irl
Too theatrical, too symphonic!
E-MAIL: cloud2@netcom.com

Waters takes over on this album. This one is his baby. This is the definite Pink Floyd album. The story is about one's struggle to communicate. His whole life he just builds a wall around himself. And this intimate album portrays all the fealings of alienation. To me this is the most meaningful piece of work I've ever acklowledged.J.TEEL gives it ****1/2. I give this *****.
E-MAIL: ba411@freenet.uchsc.edu
IMHO, this album is way too commercial and over- rated. Go for the older (pre-wall) stuff, instead. Back then, they were actually a group called "Pink Floyd", and not some egotistical maniac who would later take over the band and re-name it "Roger Waters". Don't get me wrong...He's done lots of good for PF throught the years. Unfortunately, that good had turned cancerous by the early 80's...I welcome the David Gilmour era with open arms.
E-MAIL: ftoy01@hills.ccsf.cc.ca.us
Compared to prior Floyd albums, "The Wall" was somewhat of a letdown for me. It's certainly the last one that I'm ever going to buy. My sister, who happens to be an avid Floyd fan, has accumulated a large assortment of "Wall" memorabilia thru-out the years. Among the more notable items in her collection are a toothbrush, doorknob hanger, and a telescope! You are grossly understating the fact when you refer to this album as being "too commercial"! :-) Couldn't agree with you more on roger waters. F.T.
E-MAIL: Pony%"kornakd@alpha.montclair.edu"
This was one of the best damn albums that I have ever heard. The style is great when in a certain mood.
E-MAIL: sgaletto@mail.portup.com
"If youu are listener who loves nothing more than to lay back and listen to some great music, then I recommend this CD to you...In fact maybe if everybody in the world listened to this CD we might finally have peace with each other, if not with yourself."
E-MAIL: mrendon@hpuxulsa.ulsa.mx
Like my predecessor in finland, "The Wall" was too theatrical. It represents a drastic change from previous styles of Pink Floyd. In this period, Roger Waters shows his domination over the band through his cynical lyrics. If you really want to relax, then try listening to Pink Floyd's 1971 masterpiece "Meddle". It's like the calm sea before Water's hurricane.
E-MAIL: jadavis@ucsd.edu
Again, no more need for comment here. Though I do agree that this one is a little---- how should I say----- catered to popularity? Overall, great story and cool movie. Excellent music but still something doesnt fit.
E-MAIL: cloud2@ix.netcom.com
you guys are dumb asses. This is their best album. Waters does take over the band. But it makes it much better this way. David Gilmour is to boring Waters gives this album the emotion that it needs. And in a theatrical standpoint i think its brilliant. It gives you a better picture of the story. And you cunts show no appreciation. Dont criticize something you cant understand.

Pink Floyd was the best band ever assembled. I like them a lot. Maybe if i pull some strings, i can get them to play in the cellar. Don't hold your breath though, they're probably hard to get a hold of.
E-MAIL: bottorfn@hanover.edu
A very good album. What got me first turned on to Floyd. However if you like this album try some of the other Floyd, like "Wish You Were Here" of " The Dark Side of the Moon" and you may be even more impressed.

E-MAIL: mk56@hpuxulsa.ulsa.mx
I have to disagree with you there, buddy. "The Wall" IS an over-rated commercial album, and IMHO a bad attempt of Queen's "A Night At the Opera". To you Roger Waters might be god and all, but so far he hasn't done much on his own. I get a sore throat from just hearing him sing. Hell, my dog fido can croon better than him. If it's commercial pop music that you like, then fine...go ahead and bronze your copy. Afterall, it's pop music (Milli Vanilli and Michael Bolton) that YOU the general mass desires most. Die-hard Floydians know better.
E-MAIL: fleugel@it.njit.edu
Hey guys, let's stop the bickering already. `The Wall' is a good album but it's difficult to say if it's the best. That's the great thing about the Floyd. You never get sick and tired of listening to them, because all of their albums are soo great!
E-MAIL: lzuniga@cwis.ny.edu
You may accuse other people of criticizing something they don't know, but employing such immature language as "cunt" coupled with 1st-grade grammar will do the least in conveying your own views to others.
E-MAIL: marioz@pia.cc.uniud.ca
We are all aware of Waters' gifted writing capabilities, but let us not forget about Dave Gilmour's contributions to Pink Floyd. Without his experimentalism and love for sound effects, p.f. might've taken the path of another Rolling Stones. And then we wouldn't be here having this discussion, because Pink Floyd wasn't categorized under "Progressive Rock" which we love so much. Roger was a good guy, but his ego got the better of him. Remember, this is the same person who refused to take part in the post-Final Cut project....he wanted to see the remaining members fail, and was confident of their demise without him. Of course, this never happened and "Momentary's" sales success infuriated Waters. He decided to sue, thereafter, for the rights of the "Pink Floyd" name, and LOST. Again. Such a hypocrite that he should accuse others of being losers.
E-MAIL: lario@netcom21.netcom.com
You're wrong, it wasn't a total lost for Waters. He was awarded custody of that adormable pink pig! :-)
E-MAIL: syntec@rafael.virginia.edu
You're all a bunch of pathetic newbies! Roger Waters is a usurper and pretender. Syd Barrett will always be the true king of Pink Floyd!
E-MAIL: cen05391
The Wall is the most intense movie and cd That I could ever dream of. You have to be in a SPECIAL kind of mood.
E-MAIL: gclark@it.njit.edu
Only if you're a a rabid fan!!! The older stuff are classics and much better than "The Wall". Instead, go with anything that's pre-Animals, which are more representative of Pink Floyd than they are of Roger Waters!

"PINK FLOYD IS ROGER WATER" ALAA WILLIAM 1995
E-MAIL: oaks@mtec.com.br
Alright, I know I may be a Floyd newbie - and I actually don't think I've ever heard any "pre-Animals" Pink Floyd, but I must admit this album is great. Most of all, "Confortably numb" is one of the most amazing songs I've ever heard. But there's one thing that I need to know (I've even posted a question on alt.music.pink-floyd about it): what does the last sequence of the film mean? I mean, those kids picking up the pieces of the wall... does it mean that: a) Pink died b) Pink defeated the wall he built c) Pink finally went totally nuts d) nothing actually changed Of course, this is probably a senseless question (not everything is supposed to mean something), but I'd like to hear any insights on the subject. In my opinion, option "d" is worth considering, mostly due to the repetition of the theme of the final song at the very beginning of the album.

E-MAIL: WILLIAM:
If you pit Michael Jordan against a jr. high basketball team there is a good chance that he might not prevail. Simply put: Roger Waters is not Pink Floyd. Roger Waters is/was a part of Pink Floyd. Pink Floyd is Pink Floyd.

Yeah, yeah, yeah... all I wanna say is this baby sureashell kicks the shit out of "Tommy"...
E-MAIL: smiller@micron.net
Pink Floyd the Wall is one of my all time fav's. The music is very relaxing, and I recommend it to any one with that looks for that extra tast in Music.
E-MAIL: fungobat@sprynet.com
Yet another boring piece of shit from those lazy asses known as Puke Floyd. Incredibly overrated and not worth the cash. The movie is equally dull and like other cult films only became big because some depressed kids said it was so. Why the Pukes ever got big is beyond me. Maybe it's because they cranked out the same album over and over again starting with DSOTM. Nuff said.
E-MAIL: al750628@academ01.chi.itesm.mx
You know nothing about PINK FLOYD the reason why it is so great is because all their albums are different and great.I love syd barret so much as i love waters or gilmour.I think that the wall is great but I don't think that you can say that it is better or worse than piper, dak side, wywh or meddle.
E-MAIL: fuck you
hey you yes you dip shit with your head up your ass, yeah the one who calls pink floyd puke floyd. You don't have a clue what the wall is about do you. The wall is an autobiography and a slam on stadium rock. While Dsotm is a concept about madness money and death now I just want to know how all their albums are the same, you seem to lose me on that one.
E-MAIL: matthew9
The Wall is very special, but the who's Quadrophnia without a doubt far superior. You havent heard the best until youve heard Quadrophenia, just listen to the lyrics and musical composition. You all need ataste of the real stuff! If your to shallow to agree then fuck you!!
E-MAIL: Jesus Christ.com
I love Mormons!!
E-MAIL: william@tradesrv
Any music which makes the listener feel an emotion has succeeded. The Wall is, I believe one of the most successfull albums ever through it's sheer emotive power. It's also simply an awesome listen. You've also got to listen to The Final Cut (I think debatably their best), Ummagumma, Dark Side of the Moon and Animals. I think when Roger Waters left they lost their emotional power.
E-MAIL: GOD@heavin.com
Hi jesus how are you? It is good to see you have finally joined the internet. I love mormons too but Im mainly a catholic man myself. To the point, I love the wall and that album and amused to death are what I sent waters on earth to do. If you don't like it, go to hell.
E-MAIL: get a life
Im sick of all you losers on the internet trying to play god, it is total bull shit, maby that jesus christ was real but eveybody knows Im God. you know me as roger waters.
E-MAIL: waters.suck
If Roger Waters is so disillusioned with stadium rock and audiences, then why is he holding more tours and concerts on his own than Pink Floyd? Because he is a hypocrite. RW is not big enough to be Christ, nor even the anti-Christ. Heck, not even anti-freeze.
E-MAIL: jhkjhkfxals
They should've named this album "The Ball" instead. Like the real thing, the quality of this Pink Floyd work is close in proximity to a prick! Tommy rules!
E-MAIL: fuck tommy quadrophenia is the best
tommy is ok but quadrophia kicks tommys ass. the wall might be good enouph for your hollyness but quad is the best.
E-MAIL: heheh
At least we can come to a consensus that either two are better than 'The Wall'. Roger Waters needs to take singing and guitar lessons. Without Gilmour, Mason and Wright, the only thing that he's good for is reading poetry in a smoke-filled beatnik club!!!
E-MAIL: www.gepr.com
From the Gibraltar Encyclopaedia of Progressive Rock: The Wall - Overblown, self-pitying "World War II was a world-wide conspiracy to deprive me of my father' BS. This is not to belittle the tragedies of war and/or the loss of fathers. It can make for compelling subject matter. But notice I said "can." Any subject matter, no matter how important or compellingly tragic, can be given a treatment that would make even the most indulgent listener want to slap the songwriter around and shout, "WHO CARES???" To be honest, I don't see much effort on Waters' part to actually write lyrics; many of the songs seem not to be much more than notes for an autobiographical story or an essay. To be fair, though, it does have some nice moments--mostly on the songs Gilmour co-wrote - but I can't imagine listening to all four sides at once.
E-MAIL: scotp@aol.com
What a major snoozefest. It's hard to believe that this is the same Pink Floyd that recorded all those great albums in years past. As for Roger Waters message about the horrors of war.... Anyone who can listen to 'The Wall' in one sitting deserves the Purple Heard award.
E-MAIL: zel332@l1-cc.comp.net.it
A very horrendous-sounding record. If this is music, then Gerald Ford is the greatest president in the history of the US!
E-MAIL: lerchaise@hp441.ux.mx
If nothing else, then get this for the Dave Gilmour songs on the the album. Otherwise, your money would be better spent on Spice Girls and Milli Vanilli.
E-MAIL: reeves@compuserve.com
The albums before "Animals" and after "The Final Cut" are way better.
E-MAIL: Jimmy Page
PINK FLOYD IS THE BEST FUCKING GROUP IN THE ENTIRE HISTORY OF MUSIC!!!! DAMN YOU PEOPLE THAT THINK BADLY OF PINK FLOYD. DAMN THAT ROGER WATERS, THOUGH! HIS SOLO CAREER SUCKS! GO DAVID GILMORE! RICHARD WRIGHT! NICK MASON! LONG LIVE PINK FLOYD!!!!!!!!!
E-MAIL: sdjkhfgdsfersdkj
WOW...THIS ALBUM MUST REALLY SUCK!!! JUST LOOK AT THE LOW RATINGS!!!
E-MAIL: Nigel Stone
Nothing could be more dreadful than the redundant Roger Waters era. Animals-The Wall-TBC... 3 VIRTUALLY identical records in a row. Self-plagiarised and very boring.
E-MAIL: axon45@rocketmail.com
What can I say about "The Wall?" How about the fact that it wasn't a Roger Water's solo album! "The Wall" contains some very good songs, but also quite a bit of filler. "Hey You" is a great song, so are: "Comfortably Numb," "Mother," "Goodbye Blue Sky," "The Trial," "Another Brick In The Wall Part II," "Vera" and "Nobody Home!!"
E-MAIL: evanrite@students.wisc.edu
I like pink floyd. It keeps me from losing my insanity because the music itself is quite mad.
E-MAIL: no_spam@mercury.ucsf.edu
And, if it weren't for David Gilmour there'd be even more fillers from Roger Waters!
E-MAIL: efoley@netcom.ca
E-MAIL: efoley@netcom.ca
I love Pink Floyd. You are all right in saying that it is the greastest band ever. Personally I feel the music written by Rogers Waters far exceeds that of any composer such as Bach or Mozart. His music truly comes to life and makes you think. And you can tell he put alot of himself into to it the mood is right esspecially for the wall and one of my favorites the final cut. Though many would say I am crazy. Yes I am because Pink Floyd has got it. WW
E-MAIL: holly fucking shit
You stupid cuntys, how can you say this record doesn't kick ass. Pull your head out, you stupid fucks. Poop dick says Waters doesn't have a great solo career.
E-MAIL: haan@engr.umbc.edu
Here are some FACTs. 1. This album page for 'The Wall' was most crowded place. 2. This was the most controversial place, too These tell us that 'The Wall' has a big impact on music lovers whether they love 'The Wall' or not. Let's just say 'The Wall' is an important album. Hope everybody will be happy. I think the way one loves PF should be respected each other. And also, one shouldn't use too much subjective feelings in expressing one's opinion. Before you say, 'He sucks', you must have a right cause of your own not your feeling. 'The Wall' was made by people like us not gods or superier beings. The only difference between PF and us is that they made 'The Wall' with their blood sweat and tears while we sit back comfortably and simply type our keyboard. As you can see that from the previous comments, everybody has her/his own wall that should be demolished by our compassion and mutual understanding. This is one of the themes from one of the most important albums through the rock history, 'The Wall'.
E-MAIL: P.S....
Note: Now, had I made an erroneous error as was deliberately done on the first sentence of the last post (i.e. "grammars" instead of "grammar") I would have at least posted a message pointing out such errors as I am doing right now.
E-MAIL: seepak@nospam.com
What's the whole point of this discussion if one can't say what they feel, whether or not their feelings stem from being subjective??? The Wall itself was the result of one member's (RW) subjective feelings without cause, that many including other members of Pink Floyd disagreed with. Later, Waters even went on to say that some of his ideas for the wall were quite absurd. This is well-documented, and any true Floydian know that. does that mean I should go out and tell everyone I know to buy copies of "The Wall" or Spice Girls' "Spice" just because they've sold zillions of copies worldwide, or oppose abortion just because Operation Rescue says that we should? Many of the posts here which are critical of Waters are constitute both subjective feelings, as well as real cause. Why are you trying to put them down, by singling out Nigel Stone and epitomizing his views the same as the others??? Is that your definition of "cause"?
E-MAIL: JIMI PAGE
THAT'S TRUE- JUST BECAUSE ONE PERSON DOESN'T LIKE HIS STEAK JUST BECAUSE IT'S FRIED INSTEAD OF BROILED DOESN'T MEAN THAT OTHERS WON'T TOO!!!

E-MAIL: Joe Clark
A very ordinary Pink Floyd album. I feel that Roger Waters had already reached his peak on 'Wish You Were Here'. He's certainly done better in the past.
E-MAIL: HexMan
The consummate Pink Floyd "sell-out" album. No band as unique as PF should EVER compromise their trademark sound in hopes of catering to the mainstream just to sell a gazillion albums. What's even worse are the so-called newbies who go around blabbing about how long hey've been fans, and proclaiming "The Wall" as the best PF they've ever heard even though they've heard very little or no other Floyd at all. Just imaginee the Rolling Stones releasing a new album of medieval chants. Then 10 billion people who've never been exposed to them before buy their album and call it the best Stones rocker ever. It's enought to make the true die-hards wanna puke, and so it is with this Mary Poppins wannabe. For those of you who are new to Pink Floyd and want to hear their classic sound, I would recommend anything from the period between AHM to WYWH and the post-Roger Water era.
E-MAIL: Spawn
Voted as the second worst Pink Floyd album on the internet PF poll site, slightly ahead of "The Final Cut".
E-MAIL: Fuck Roger Waters
This is a Roger Waters commercial album, not a Pink Floyd album. I hate this kind of garbage.
E-MAIL: BillGates@microsoft.com
"The Wall" has sold in excess of over 40 million copies making it the third best seller of all-time in North America, right behind Michael Jackson's "Thriller" and the Eagles' "Greatest Hits '71-'75" respectively.
E-MAIL: vsiplo@taos.ui.ed.be
Hey `Fuck Roger Waters', I'm not at all surprised by the reaction of you and most other people here. Just take a look at the company that the THE WALL has. Medicore pop dreck by an accused child molester, and a Eagles' compilation record. Now, add a progressive rock band that doesn't play it's own trademark music, but a side-project musical broadway and what do you have? The 3 best-sellers of all time! Take caution, however. Here come the upstart Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, and No Doubt!!!
E-MAIL: BASM (Britons Against Shitty Music)
I can't believe you people. You're all a bunch of sheep wasting money on shite like this. For each successful recording like The Wall, there are tons of better ones by artists which will never make it to a record store. And, why? Because the shit-for-brains of the music industry usually decides who gets the break and who doesn't. In most instances hype usually wins over creative integrity, as exemplified here.
E-MAIL: Pink
Come ON!Can't any of ye pity me?

E-MAIL: metalove6@aol.com
This album is one of Floyd's best. no question! It bothers me to know that some people think that they're worthless. Sure they've tried every drug known to man, but they also have all the talent in the world!!! Most talent of any band if you ask me. That's just my opinion.
E-MAIL: metalhate6@aol.com
No, we don''t think the band is worthless... Just Roger Waters and this album!!!!
the world is ending and we're just sitting round watching it on tv. ha ha! I love it!
there's a story behind the wall which I enjoy. And some catchy tunes and theatrical effects. I don't get the 1.7 rating (14-04-03); how could any fan? although I'll say this for detractors of waters or of his wall: the man takes himself extremely seriously. Oh well, on the other hand I have nothing but good to say about every single album the floyd produced, but what is poor boy to do? anywho, musical tastes are subjective at best and I've nothing meaningful to say anyhow...I think I'll go check out the ZWAN reviews to see if ony one has pointed out similar to jesus-rock the lyrics are...and, well, christian rock is wrong. So very wrong.PS the guy who pointed out how popular and controversial this board is has a point. oh, and plz pardon my bad spelling and fawlty grammar, all ye who come after me.
indianarob68@cs.com
BobBobtheBob
This is not Pink Floyds best album so how its one of the best albums of all time I dont know. Parts of this album are fucking great like Comfortably Numb, Run Like Hell, In The Flesh? and Hey You. Another Brick In The Wall Part 2 is a bit crap and boring. Is There Anybody Out There? The Wall live is a lot better but still not as good as DSOTM or WYWH. And yes I have seen the Wall film many times and it does help you understand the album.
blah@blah.ca
Okay album, but the guitar solos are canned. every time they start up, you know you're going to hear the same thing.
