Comments for Plastikman, Musik

This is by far the best album on the entire fucking planet. I saw Richie spin in Toronto and it made the album seem mellow. Plastikman is altogether fantastarama, but Musik was able to make alot of people lose their shit. (In a Good way) Nicko

Although richie's album is given a lot of hype, i personally wasn't that impressed with it. It just seemed like a rehash of old FUSE and perhaps a resonant Cybersonik... Believe me, it's hard trying to be objective (especially since i'd go out and dance anyday to any of his shows in the Detroit/Windsor area where i live). But truthfully, i think more could be done to develop it... Nothing really ground-breaking here... Minimal is as great as YOU want it to be... As for me i couldn't listen to his album more than 2x thru in one sitting... Speaking of, it seems to do a lot of it just on my shelf. K.L.

musik and richie are the best thing to happento techno since i can remeber. ALL the albums besides Musik are works of art. Anyone into techno/ambient must check it out!
Richie Hawtin, Plus 8 Records co-founder, aka F.U.S.E., UP!,Cybersonik et al, releases his second album under thePlastikman moniker, following 1993`s Sheet One. Anyonesearching for a second dose of that album`s faster, noisierstyle is in for a surprise - this is a more laid-back,funkier work altogether, which takes its sweet timeunravelling. As is a hallmark of his Plastikman style, Hawtintakes a bare-bones approach to the grooves found here, giving every element a lot of space and freestyling withthe FX boxes when the mood suits him. This is, I`m sure, fartoo slow for trance/hardcore/jungle fans, but it isn`tparticularly ambient either. Call it what you will, it`s analbum that should be heard by everyone who`s interested intechno`s future. Plus, it moves butts like nobody`s business.(Sadly, hard to find in the U.S.)
