Portishead definately aren't rock, they're somewhere between dance and hip hop. They've been labelled trip hop in the UK although a lot of people don't like that label. dance and hip hip. They've been labelled as trip hop in the UK along with acts like Tricky and Earthling.

I like it good enough, what ever it is. I heard Sour Times on the radio a lot for a while, and my X would always say "hey! it's the cool song." I liked it a lot too, so I got it. -[rs!FRIZ!sr]

This album is monster. I went to see the at SCUM guildhall, and they were shit hot. I don't think they'll ever come back though because I could only see a few people jigging about to their TOP AS FUCK tunes. If you ever read this PORTISHEAD, don't go back to SCUM go to POMPEY, TRUST ME it'll be cushty. I promise.

Bloody Brilliant!

I frankly don't understand why they're considered a dance band. There doesn't seem to be a single track to dance to on this album!

As I listen to "I just wanna be a women" on the radio, I just loved it! My question would be: Do they use special effects for the voice? Thank you for answering to: aurelio@ping.ch

I love Portishead's songs 'cause they're too strange with hip-hop,a crying voice and hard songs. I'm brasilian, and my name is Marcos. Kisses!

I spent my first hours with a new love to the music of this band. By cheerful accident, I am imprinted. Fondness flows to the Lady Of The Stones, C. The first track "Mysterons" has sound bites from a then-wonderful film of my childhood: "Attack Of The Mysterons".

I've listened to this album a thousand times and it's still one of my favourites. If u like it, also check out Massive Attack, Tricky and DJ Krush. Or one of the singer's favourites: Cocteau Twins. BTW: Who the hell calls this music 'rock'? I can't wait to get their new CD. 10 points!

No one writes music like Portis Head... NO ONE. For some this album might be a bit hard to listen to at first, but it will definitely grow on you. If you are looking for something new, something kindof... spooky, then buy this album.

This album is _definately_ hip-hop, in a cinematic style somewhat reminicent of Wu-tang Clan stuff. Vocals=excellent and diverse.

A moody and painfully sexual exploration of rhythm and samples. Changed the way i listen for all time.

they sound to me like a 90''s clone of Eartha Kitt. Still they''re pretty interesting to listen to.
