Funky is a good way to describe this album. I actually didn't like it the first time I listened to it but it quickly grew on me.

Side one (of the cassette) is great; his best side of music since Lovesexy

The horn arrangements are mindblowing

Don't beat your children or they might turn out like me... O(+>

The overall "techno" sound of the album isn't too appealing, but there are a few tracks on each side that are very engaging. Among these number "Dark," which I believe to be among the finest Prince has ever made. The horns, in addition to other components of its structure, are absolutely wonderful. "Come" is worth purchasing just to get your hands on "Dark."

Moody music, sometimes very dark. Well worth purchasing, along with the LETITGO maxi single. This album is the "funeral" album, "Prince is Dead." The Gold EXP O+> is more uplifting, COME is "Dark."

Yes, COME is dark...almost depressing at times. I think it's a reflection of the man's emotions at the time. LETITGO is a 10 though.

COME....I have been a O(+> (Prince) fan from about 1984-85, (Purple Rain) and as a fan I know Prince has what he thinks is good, but me as a fan I thought after the first time I played the CD,after I bought it I thought I had wasted my money, I got to like it a bit a small bit.I think as a fan that if you bought COME and Purple Rain or Sign O Times you would thinkyou had bought a ablum by a different artis which in a sence you have,But for me the album did not work.

I don' t think this is a "happy" album. In Prince' s discography it representes something what was Lovesexy in the 80' s. It' s a great piece of work, he' s genious, but except Come, Papa, Loose and Letitigo it doesn' t turn me on that much. ITs fine 2 listen 2 it but it's nothing special. If someone else recored album like this it would be a hammer but we all now that Prince' s got a lot of better stuff than this.

The way I understand the meaning of this album, is that it was intended to be the direct antithesis of his then-unreleased "Gold Experience", which - according to The Artist, was much better than "Come". All the songs on this album are marked by his characteristic style: stripped down, skeletal rythms, bare bones funk, rock and soul, a la "Dirty Mind" or the horn-infested "Black Album". The lyrics are predictably sleazy: The title track covers the usual smutty/spiritual Tantric territory, a '90s "Le Grind"; he squeels and grovels in his dark, subterranean animal nature in "Pheromone", like he did in "Superfunkycalifragisexy" and once again showcases the self-destructive outcome of domestic violence in "Papa" like he did on "Bob George". All characteristically PRINCE right? EXACTLY. That's the whole point. "Come" precisely illustrates the pigeon-holed characterizations of himself and his music that The Artist is trying to banish forever. In short, "Come" is The Artist's INTERPRETATION of a "Prince" album. The obituary (1958~1993) of Prince on the front cover, with all of it's deathly, gothic imagery, reveals that this is music of the past, as translated by 0(+>. "The Gold Experience", which The Artist wanted to release the same time as "Come" was supposed to represent the future of his music and the sprawling, unlimited, fresher universe he wished to inhabit. Still, there's no excuse for passing up this disc, as it contains the epic bluesy/gospel track "Dark" and the chugging, throbbing mellow vibes of "Letitgo" Whether "slave" or free, Prince or symbol is always worth a spin.
