Comments for Psychedelic Furs, The, Midnight to Midnight

I don't agree with the previous comment at all. To me, this the best Furs album put out. Lots of groovy guitar work and excellent production. Lyrically Butler shows his maturity. A real plus in the Furs checkered career.

What a load of crap,the whole fiasco of a record was an embarassment to the band and it's fans at the time,The record stunk,the tour stunk even the album cover stunk{Butler looked liked the son of Karen Carpenter and Madonna}Totally unlistenable!!!!!!

Wretched dreck that CBS over-hyped and forced down the listener's throat. Can someone please tell me what a 'heartbreak beat' is anyway? I have no clue. Compare any cut of this album to anything like 'Sister Europe,' or 'Torch' and you'll see a shocking contrast between sell-out and artistic integrity. It really kills me when I hear that this was their best-selling album of all time.

When I first heard this album I hated it; now I'm more ambivalent than anything else. I put the record on the turntable (yeah, I still have one of those) the other day, to try and figure out what went wrong. Even though it's too slick and over-produced, you can't really fault the vocals or the instrumentals; they're more than competent. For lack of a better way to articulate it, I guess it comes down to trying to be something you're not, which ultimately disappoints and doesn't satisfy. Anyway, they more than redeem themselves with their next two albums.

I'm sorry, but I LIKE this album! Always have. Listen to it in a good mood and you're dancing in some great club in NY. Listen it a sad mood and it's about the difficulty of finding good relationships nowadays. Plus it's sexy as hell!

Yes, but what IS a 'heartbreak beat' anyhow?

"Heartbreak Beat" is a song about Richard''s heart condition. He has been diagnosed as having an "unusual skip" in his heartbeat. He has since overcome this by meditation and healthy living! My comment about this lp is simply that it is not representative of the Furs sound. Its not a bad lp. I still occasionally blast "One More Word" and "Midnight to Midnight" very loud through my hifi and it sounds great...but not like the Furs as we know them...

Furs`fifth and self-admittedly worst album. Trying to break into the mainstream they almost succeed -- but sell their souls in the process. Good if you`re into mid-eighties pop-alternative. Compared to their first two or three albums though, this is a compleete disaster.
