Comments for Psychedelic Furs, The, Crucial Music - The Psychedelic Furs Collection

I happened to come across this album (on cassette) and my first reaction was - what an interesting collection of tracks. Some of the lesser known songs are included, which is a good thing. My second reaction - only ten tracks? There are so many good songs to choose from. There are several ways this compilation could be improved - first, eliminate all the tracks that are already on the "All of This and Nothing" compilation: She Is Mine, Heartbreak Beat, and Heaven. Then add some more songs. This album has some good numbers from that album with attitude, "The Psychedelic Furs" - India, Pulse, and Fall (one of my favorites). For some reason, one of their best albums, "Talk Talk Talk", is almost totally unrepresented. My choice - No Tears - and any other song off that album; they`re all good. I like the way this collection opens up with the sweet Sleep Comes Down and ends with the sarcastic sendoff Goodbye, both from the "Forever Now" album. Moving on to "Mirror Moves", I`ve always had a soft spot for My Time, Here Come Cowboys is a good choice, and I`d add Alice`s House - pure psychedelic pop! As much as I dislike the album "Midnight To Midnight", if I had to choose, I guess I`d pick Angels Don`t Cry or All Of The Law. I`d like to see a compilation include some numbers from their last two albums. I think they`re worthwhile, although I know that not everyone shares my opinion. From "Book Of Days" I`d pick the title track and Parade. From "World Outside", my choices would be Valentine and Until She Comes. Overall, "All Of This And Nothing" is the better compilation, but if you were like me, you wouldn`t need either one - you`d already own all of the albums.
