Comments for Public Image Ltd., That What Is Not

Granted that this is a great album, it isn't one of Lydon's best accomplishments. The first four songs really hit you when you listen, and I'd even say that "Acid Drops" and "God" rank near the top of the list of all time great PiL songs, but after that it lags and doesn't pick up again until "Emperor". I gave it an 8. By the way, shouldn't it be "That Which is Not"?

Another show of John Lydon's brilliance, especially "Covered"

THAT WHAT IS NOT - the last PiL album to date, and what splendid piece of plastic this is. 10 above average songs - but I do agree, not the best product My Lydon has released. Magic moments on Cruel, Acid Drops and Think Tank circulate around a rather heavy metal sound unlike anything PiL, or Lydon, has flirted with. The 'No Future' Sex Pistols clip on Acid Drops was a real bonus for all concerned, placed there by the producer for a laugh and kept there as JL enjoyed it. Check out Poptones from Paris in the Spring for the early PiL, and you will notice that the song was music and lyrics whereas since 86, JL has featured the usual verse,chorus,verse etc etc and trhis album is not exception. Best Album of 1992, but 8/10 for PiL product.
