Comments for R.E.M., Lifes Rich Pageant

This is one of REM's best albums. Superman is a great unlisted track. From such Eponymous tracks as Fall On Me to the under rated (sp?) Swan Swan Hummingbird, this is a diverse album and a must for any collection... Raw, unaldulterated Atlanta rOck.

****1/2 (5 star scale)-- This, along with it's counterpart Document, are two of the best albums of the 80's. Not may bands can write as much compelling music then that on this record. Where I feel that Pageant has better songs on it, Document was probably more consistent with it's writing qualities. PRIME CUTS-- "Begin the Begin","These Day","Fall on me","Superman","I believe","SwanswanH"--jteel

Easily one of their best. For those of you who already have this one, go back and listen to "Just A Touch" again.

perhaps REM's best album from the IRS days, maybe even overall...besides the often mentioned ll..besides the often mentioned "fall on me" (rated rem's number one song on their usenet group) there are excellent tracks such as the racks such as the ubbeat "superman" and downcast Swan Swan H..."Flowers of Guatemala" and the ecletic 'underneath the bunker" are often neglected but are among the best songs available from rem.

One of R.E.M's least (along with Green) albums. a few brilliant tracks aside, like "Swan Swan H", "Superman", and "Fall on Me" this album is ultimately dull stadium rock.

This is their BEST album. You need to listen to it to know what I'm talking about. Begin the begin.

Mostly crap. You could hear them selling out, at this point. Buck abandoned the clean propulsive 12-string approach and started playing silly linear metallic parts. "Coyahoga" (sic) and "Fall On me" are brilliant still, and the opening track ok, but mostly this is absolute s***.

"Swan Swan Hummingbird" is my favorite on the LP.I had the guitar chords, but spent a lot of time trying to learn the guitar bass line. An excellent song.....PS
