Comments for R.E.M., New Adventures in HI-FI

This album totally dominates. It is just as good as their previous two, which rank pretty high also. R.E.M. goes in a slightly different direction in producing this album, but it works. In their first five or six albums, they kind of stayed with the same style. The albums still were damn good, but they didn`t change their music much. Now with Automatic, they showed they can put out a slower album, and come back strong with a heavy Monster. Hi-Fi combines both of these styles with a few heavy songs like Departure, So Fast So Numb, and Wake up Bomb, but also they throw in the slow goodies like How the West was won, and electrolyte. Over all, this album is one of the best to be put out in 96, and one of the best ever by R.E.M. No matter what other people think, they should be very proud of this album and make a million videos for the songs.
