Comments for Reed, Lou, New York

There is a version of this CD which is a CD-G, as so has graphics for anyone with a CD-G player.

This album has been called one of the best albums of all time, and I tend to agree. Heavy doses of Reed's sarcastic wit driven by strong guitar make this album a definite must have for any collection. The album is billed as a day in the life of New York, and I never really truly appreciated what that meant until I visited New York myself for the first time. Purchase, listen, enjoy, listen again.

Lou Reed is one of the greatest rock and roll artists ever. He is one of the few who can be credited with some of the best and worst albums of all time, New York being the antithesis of Metal Machine Music. The span between his musical nadirs and climaxes is a testimony to his integrity, and willingness to venture where others do not dare to not dare to travel.

Again in this database on Lou Reed, the order of the tracks is wrong, and it is important in this album, as Lou Reed mentions on the back cover of it "it is intended to be played in one time like a book". So the order is : Romeo had Juliette, The Halloween Parade, Dirty Blvd., Endless cycle, There is no time, Last great american whale, Beginning of a great adventure, Busload of faith, Sick of you, Hold on, Good evening Mr. Waldheim, Xmas in February, Strawman, Dime some mystery. It is worth mentionning the drumming of Maureen Tucker, ex-Velvet-Underground, on Last Great american whale and the last track.
