Comments for Ride, Nowhere

This album will kick your ass if you are even slightly cool. The simple, yet intelligent drum beats are perfect for carrying this highly instrumental ontourage of british indie- style groove.

Nowhere is certainly the best album ever made since The Velvet Underground's "White Light/White Heat". I'd surely like to see a band writing a song like "Polar Bear", "Paralysed", "Seagull" or "Nowhere". From the diamond-studied lyrics and paradise-like vocals to the extreme atmospheric noise of Andy's guitar and impeccable drum and bass lines, this is surely the album that made shoegazing what it was all about. "Bring Back Shoegazing" - by Phase, a portuguese shoegazing band.

This is my favorite ride album... dreams burn down, polar bear, in a different place and vapour trail are all amazing. hell there's so many good tracks on the album that it's hard to keep my "standout" list down to less than 6 tracks. umm., i'd reccommend this album to anyone, it's more mellow and relaxed than most ride, and the vocals are all slow, and sweet sounding with really strong lyrics. no offense, but if you like ride and don't have this - you're the biggest fool!

This is the least pop-oriented Ride album but it contains a lot of their best work with subtle tunes,ultra-light jangly guitar layers and dream-like floating vocals. The guitar distortion, drums and bass are vital to the sound. "Seagull", "Kaleidoscope","Polar Bear","Dreams Burn Down" and "Here And Now" are my favourites.

Interestingly enough, I bought this album (around 1990)on a complete whim. No explanation for the purchase. Let me tell you I don't regret it in the least. It's the best album I own from any artist. I can't actually state which songs are the best because they all have something to them which makes it a unique listening experience. Which you can't help but love.

Everyone seems to be arguing about "Nowhere" Ride vs. "Carnival of Light" Ride and the different styles on both of the albums. Personally, any band that has two brilliant singers/songwriters and styles is a plus in my book. It's like two bands for the price of one! This is the shoegazing epic, and why has no one listed Vapour Trail as a standout track? Certainly Seagull and Polar Bear are amazing as well. What's great is that Ride were shoegazing when that was the biggest British phase and they were brit pot before brit pop was huge. Anything on Carnival rivals most of whats out there now. Buy them both and enjoy the diffeneces and conflict between two genuises.

This is one of the best, if not the best album I have. I haven''t been able to stop playing it for 7-8 years (a third of my life). If you haven''t got this album for some strange and totally bizarre reason then GET IT.
This is Ride`s most morose album, in danger of becomingGothic-like. This is by far my favourite overall albumof theirs, showing much of the My Bloody Valentineinfluence. Stand-out tracks are "Dreams Burn Down","Vapour Trail" and "Nowhere".

This album lives inside my heart where no one else can go. I think i've actually worn out five copies of this album since i first bought it in 1990. Some years have gone by where i probably listened to it 2-4 times a day. Truthfully i can say, it still sounds as fresh as the first day i played it. I've already stated i want this album played at my funeral. I know i 'm crazy.
