Comments for Ride, Smile

This is a really good album. The songs are exhilarating pop tunes drenched with loud, chaotic, distorted guitars. The highlight is the storming "Drive Blind",closely followed by "Chelsea Girl" but all the tracks are good. This is the original Ride sound which brought them early fame; I would definitely recommend Smile.

This album is pretty cool, but don''t expect the refinement in Nowhere...some of the tracks on the CD are even mixed starnge (some sound softer than the others)...Smile is an album that has about 4 brilliant tracks (drive blind, chelsea girl etc...) and for the most part is an album that you''ll listen to when you first get it, then perhaps let it fade into oblivion in exchange for always listening to Nowhere or Carnival of Lights.
This is Ride`s first "album" (in quotes because it`s really two EPs stuck together (ride EP, play EP). The sound is a lot rougher than most of their work... blaring guitars, a lot of nice melodies. standout tracks are "drive blind", "close my eyes" and "like a daydream". definately worth checking out if you`ve enjoyed nowhere or going blank again. they sound like a totally different band on each album, except for the last two (carnival of light and tarantula).lot
