Comments for Baker, Anita, Giving You The Best That I Got

E-MAIL: jlmpac.aol.com
The quintessential cut on this record is "Good Enough." This song is a prime example of how an artist refuses to sit back and let a major success stop her from being creative and exploring her jazz roots. Remember, there would be no "Rapture" without that distinct flavor. This remarkable cut is the cornerstone of this otherwise slightly above average outing for Anita.

i agree that ''good enough'' is one of the most enjoyable tracks from ''giving you the best.'' i also think that ''good love'' and ''lead me into love'' are two songs which stand above the rather "commercial" sounds of some of the other songs on the album (''priceless'' and ''just because'' comes to mind). one wonders (or at least , I do) what a whole album of songs like ''good enough'' from anita would be like - i doubt if it will be as boring as some "easy- listening" jazz that they play on radio, given what anita can do as evident in songs like ''lonely'' from ''compositions." .
An essential part of any Anita Baker collection.
