Comments for Rush, Counterparts

**** Their best album since "Signals". Us true Rush fans, while still loving their developed synthetic music of later albums, knew that they could still rock. This, by the way, is their 20th release in 19 years. PRIME CUTS-- "Stick It Out", "Between Sun and Moon", "Double Agent", "Leave That Thing Alone", and "Cold Fire". --J. Teel

This IS a very good album. It has a "grungy" type feel to it showing us that they can still rock once in a while. It is a shame that their songwriting is getting a little repetative. I can remember when Rush were inovators, pushing the edge. Even though I love this album, I am getting sick of the same type of changes, lyrics, etc. *** of ****

The album may not be as good overall musically as others, but some of the songs are some of the best from Rush in awhile. "Animate" "Nobody's Hero" "Cold Fire" (my fav.) "everyday Glory" are simply awesome.

I think this is probably Rush's crappiest album. I don't know why in the world they got rid of theor last producer. This album, to me, sounds cold and clammy compared to all of Rush's other great albums. Bottom line: leave this one on the shelf!

I really enjoyed Counterparts. It's not trebble-happy like a lot of today's music. Rush has produced an album that seems to fill the entire speaker, leaving nothing to leave the listener wanting. It is well balanced and contains fine lyrics.

Possibly one of the best albums of all time. The engineering is unbelievable as well.

Rush is a big, overated, pile of shit! Anyone who thinks they have one picogram of talent in their useless bodies is a FUCKING MORON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mis tracks favoritos son: Alien Shore, Animate y Leave That Thing Alone.

Counterparts was a refreshing album after RTB and Presto. Not that I didnt like them, but the sound was getting old - Counterparts gives Rush new life in the '90's. Great tracks like Animate, Leave That Thing Alone, Cold Fire, Everyday Glory, and Double Agent really give enegy to this album. A great band making great music. Kudos!!

COUNTERPARTS is Rush's strongest album in years. Some material remains trite and mannered, but Cold Fire is a huge advance in songwriting. Other strong tracks include the opener. Speed of Love is propelled by some of Lifeson's most elegant guiter work, through the lyrics are a bit clunky. The Sun Moon song has an intriguing sound as well as the opening two tracks. I expect much of the rest of the album will sound very dated rather quickly.

With the exception of "Nobody's Hero," "Animate," "Cold Fire," "Between Sun and Moon," "Cut To The Chase" and "Double Agent," I did not particularly care for this cd! It's really a shame, but the one reason that I have a less than glowing opinion about this cd is because of the song--"Stick It Out!" This is Rush's worst song, followed closely behind by "Lessons" from "2112!" Overall, Rush has released three fantastic cd's in this era of their history. "Presto," "Roll The Bones" and "Test For Echo" are magnificent! What happened here? Eliminate "Stick It Out" from this cd and I will raise my rating to an 8/10, otherwise it gets a 6/10 just like "Grace Under Pressure!" By the way, "Presto," "RTB" and "T4E" are all worthy of a 9/10!!

NEIL, IN REFERENCE TO "NOBODY"S HERO " WHY DO YOU HANG OUT WITH GAY MEN" THE ALBUM IS A PERFECT `10 BUT PLEASE DONT WRITE AND HAVE GEDDY SING ABOUT QUEERS. NIEL STOP GOING TO THOSE PARTY'S...........MY HEART TO YOUR FAMILY.

Rush's worst album by far. One or two highlights, but overall a newfound lack of inventivenss and an unfortunate lack of original ideas from the usually excellent Mr. Lifeson. If you're a newbie and gonna buy all the Rush Cds, get this one last.

First of all, to whoever Chris is, you obviously have not listened to anything off of Moving Pictures, Signals, 2112, or Permanent Waves if you believe that Rush has no talent in their "useless" bodies. I hope I speak for everyone when I say you have no taste for good music and should shut the hell up! Anyway, the album is OK. Favorites include Animate and Leave That Thing Alone.

It sucks. In my opinion, 1989 to 1993 was the darkest time for Rush fans. Neil's lyrics were haughty, pretentious and downright annoying with their attempts to lecture. Fuck that! I don't want to hear somebody's fucking opinion. If I did, I would've read the editorial sections of the New York Times, or the New Republic. When I pop in a CD, I don't want to think very much. I want to rock. If it wasn't for the band's virtuoso playing, I would've beat the shit out of something expensive on my audio stack.
