*** First in the trilogy. PRIME CUTS-- "A Passage to Bangkok", "Something For Nothing", and of course the motherload: the 2112 suite

Oracle:The Dream is the best part of the WHOLE album. Its a a great story, even though its so similar to Rand's "The Fountain". Something For Nothing and A Passage To Bankok REALLY Rock !! Peart's tempo shifting is amazing. A true power album.

Amen.... a true classic.... as a 15 year Rush fan, one of my personal fav's. Although I like the new things as well, I wish that the boys would digress(???) back to this style.... just one album, that's all.... am I alone here??

Yes, 2112 ist just a genious work, I have never heard another song like this one. But it's a bad act to provide only one Rush song.

Rush is one of the most talented rock bands in today's world. 2112 is an emotional album, where these guys first showed us who they really were. Neil's drums and lyrics are the best he'd accomplished at that point in Rush's history (with Fly By Night and Caress of Steel paling in comparison). Geddy's vocals take on a nice tone when he doesn't resort to screaming the lyrics. "Tears" and "The Twilight Zone" are beautiful examples of this. His bass playing as usual is incredible as well. Then there's Alex, whose guitar parts are what truly make 2112 the classic that it is. "Sounds that build high like a mountain or notes that fall gently like rain" truly describe his style of playing on this epic album. If you own only one Rush album, thhis is the one to have. (Of course, you should get them all. Each one's worth it.)

I must be the exception here, but "2112" has never been one of my favorite Rush discs! Although "2112" is a great concept piece; there is simply too much screaming on this disc! A modern version of "2112" would be much better!! "A Passage To Bangkok," "2112" and "Tears" are great!! But, I absolutely detest "Lessons!" Eliminate "Lessons" from this disc and I will give it an 8/10, otherwise it gets a 7/10 like "Caress Of Steel!!" "Something For Nothing" and "The Twilight Zone" are good also!!

2112 is my favorite Rush offering. I like the whole sci-fi aspect of the first side. Something for Nothing is a great rocking song, while Tears mellows you out like Rivendell does from Fly By Night.

The album that saved their careers and brought into the world a TON of Neil Peart wannabes. 2112is fantastic through and through, Something for nothing has Neils most honest lyrics, no science bullshit, just the truth! 10/10 **********
