Comments for Rush, SignalsE-MAIL: joeland@matt.ksu.ksu.edu ****1/2 Big change in the band. More synths, but the rock n roll is still there. Last album in a series of four great recordings. PRIME CUTS-- "Subdivisions", "The Analog Kid", "Chemistry", "Digital Man", "The Weapon", "New World Man". --J TeelE-MAIL: kyle.e.gilats@uwrf.edu The Analog Kid and Losing It stand out in my mind. Subdivisions has great keyboards, Digital Man, New World Man, The Weapon all have Geddy at his best on bass. Countdown gets overlooked, but is really fantastic. A better album for a long time to listen to than Moving Pictures and Permanent Waves.E-MAIL: crmobl00@mik.uky.edu Yet another superb effort. Every track has an energy, much like Moving Pics before it. Subdivisions is one of my all-time favorite songs. Possibly the best Rush album of their "synthesizer era".E-MAIL: morano@acsu.buffalo.edu my personal favorite rush album for 8 reasons: tracks 1-8. "new world man" is pure adrenaline. "losing it" provokes many emotions each time i listen.E-MAIL: thomptl0@seraph1.sewanee.edu This one isn't really dominated by synths; I'd classify it in the same vein as Movin Pictures, but with a LOT of influence (musically) from The Police.E-MAIL: AGNEND86@SNYBUFAA.CS.SNYBUF.EDU Possibly their best album. Certainly their most consistent.E-MAIL: axon45@rocketmail.com "Signals" is a fantastic cd, once again-- I own the digitally remastered version!! This is my 7th favorite Rush cd overall and my 34th favorite cd!! There are several great songs on this cd, but my favorites are: "New World Man," "Losing It," "Countdown," and "Digital Man!" Rush's experimentation on synthesizers will culminate with the masterpiece-"Power Windows!" There are many references to Rush sounding like the "Police" on their post "ESL" albums! It is true, that the "reggae" beat begins to become more prominent in their structure, but this actually dates back to "Permanent Waves!" Overall, a great disc worthy of a 9/10!!!E-MAIL: marajade@bellatlantic.net An excellent gauge of what was to come. This was the first real step in a new direction. An end of an era.E-MAIL: PizzaTree@aol.com No track stands out as much to me as "Losing It". One of the most brilliant songs of all time.E-MAIL: Rushfan102@aol.com What can I say? This album is my all-time fave Rush album! I love all the songs on it!E-MAIL: MARC.V,COM E-MAIL: MARC.V,COM THIS IS AWESOME... COUNTDOWN SHOULD BE DONE ;LIVE ON 2000 TOURE-MAIL: iatestan@sunpub.com E-MAIL: iatestan@sunpub.com "SUBDIVISIONS" is without a doubt, the Greatest song of all time! There can be no discussion is regards to this issue. Peart''s Brilliance is clearly showcased in this song! Punishing, yet perfectly masterfull control of the drums combined with the unsurpassed articulation of the notes proves this point to be true! Furthermore, Geddy''s keyboard and bass work is truely exceptional. Lifeson''s guitar riffs are uniquely brilliant, subtle and marvellously enriched with the lord''s genius. This song and only this song is the reason why I bought this album (remastered edition)! Subdivisions however, has yet to receive the proper accolades that it deserves and society at large has (due to their stupidity) neglected to register this song as #1 of all time. The bottom line is, "Subdivisions" is the GREATEST SONG OF ALL TIME! PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE! There never will be another song like this! Whether you like it or you don''t like it you''ve got to learn to love it!BLAH BLAH BLAH Muddy sound, drums sounded awful although HH and cymbals good. Alex's guitar is virtually non-existent except in Analog kid. Overall a disappointment from the sonic perfection of PW and MP. 5/10 *****freakshu@yahoo.com Anyone got the lyrics to subdivisions?Comments supplied by users do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Roadkill Consulting, Inc. |
