Comments for Rush, Rush

** Their first album is probably their most generic. Rocks, though,-- even if it does sound like any other hard rock band at the time. PRIME CUTS- "Finding My Way", "Here Again", and of course "Working Man". --J. Teel

I *STILL* love this album. At regular intervals I will crank this one. It's rockin and I think it shows that even early on they had a lot of talent. Personally I think Tesla's albums sound just like this first Rush album and I like Tesla also. Classicly contemporary.

Rush is a funny album. Just seeing the picture of John Rutsy(sp) is enough to make one laugh, but the two of Alex and Geddy are downright hilarious! The songs themselves arent that bad, a bit rough, and totally dated in the '70's with tracks like In The Mood. Working Man is the real gem on this album, which is otherwise passable. Its interesting to note that the guitar and bass work hint at Rush's sound on Fly By Night and even Caress of Steel. Fun to listen to if not taken all that seriously.

correct me if i'm wrong, but at the end of "working man" where the band rages with fiery, intense assault, was there some sort of editing difficulty? it seems that the third segment of the climax is missing that first BAAAMM! am i senile, or does anyone else know what i am refering too?

First album by Rush. I can see them playing these songs in a smokey bar in Southern Ontario, taste the Labatts Blue going down smoothly and smell the purfume of my girlfriend (now wife). Who would have thought they'd make it big?

The first album by a great band. This album's not that good in comparison to their later work, but definitely lays the groundwork for the way the band will progress. The album is quite cliched at times, with songs like "Before and After" that sound almost exactly like Led Zeppelin. There are some good songs on the album, however. "Working Man" is by far the best, foreshadowing things to come on Fly By Night and COS.

Two great songs: "Here Again" and "Working Man" do not a great album make!! The intro to "Before and After" foreshadows the magnificent band to come!!! Overall, my least favorite Rush cd worthy of a 4/10!!!

What would Rush be like if John Rutsey stayed in the band? A question most Rush fans probably don''t ever ask themselves. How long would they have stayed together? Certainly not until 1997-. I love this CD because it has the obvious Hendrix/Zep influences. What You''re Doing, In the Mood and Working Man are the obvious picks, but don''t count out the other tunes! This is the most un-Rush offering of the bunch, but I suspect most drummers love it because it is playable!(Oh yeah, I can play one WHOLE Rush CD!) For fun try to count all of Geddy''s "Ooh Yeah''s" and "Baby''s" :)

The centerpiece of this work is indeed geddy's voice. his use of vibrato in the upper registers is nothing short of phenom. while alex's use of double tracking were brilliant, his backing tracks were sheer genius i.e. BEFORE AND AFTER. great music, i 4 one took them seriously. Geddys stylistic vocal tones are the real deal, if Ged had grown up in ny he'd a made it to the Met. "sought alone to rule the fate of maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!!!!! try to hit that note!
