Comments for Rush, Caress Of Steel

** This, their third album, is the album that Rush really starts developing a style of their own. Needs a lot of work, though PRIME CUTS-- "Bastille Day", and "The NEcromancer" --J. Teel

This is a pretty trick piece of work, being both low-tech and meticulous which struck me as rather strange. Lyrics on meandering "Necromancer" sound like they were taken from a Dungeons & Dragons campaign in the 1970s - kinda cheesy but nonetheless retro cool. "Bastille" is a tour-de-force in any year.

one of rush' finest. positively charged with neil peart's fantastic lyricism. evokes moods and images of a fairy tale. one of the most underrated albums of all time. "necromancer" is purely intense.

This album is pretty good for Rush's standards, but was highly underrated by their demanding fans. Such songs as "Didacts and Narpets" and "I Think I'm Going Bald"left people wondering what the band was thinking. There are plenty of classic songs on here however. The epics "The Necromancer" and "The Fountain of Lamneth" are incredible, and Bastille Day has been a favorite of fans for years. A mixed bag, but still worth listening to.

This is Rush's first "art-rock" album! I have always considered, "The Fountain Of Lamneth" a great concept piece!! "Lakeside Park" and "Bastille Day" are great also!! But, "I Think I'm Going Bald" and "The Necromancer" are not among my favorites! I really enjoy "The Fountain Of Lamneth," but I would like to see a newer version of this song-without those screaming vocals! Still a very good disc and worthy of a 7/10, I would give it an 8/10 if "NM" and "ITIGB" were deleted!

The Necromancer Rules! This song is probably one of the most overlooked Rush songs. I Think I'm Going Bald however, is easily overlooked. I can't beleive people would rather hear Lakeside Park over The Necromancer!

The Necromancer is the definitive Rush masterpiece. The guitar work tears right through to the bone. The tale is classic, good vs. evil, and the way that Rush has interpreted this is a work of art. You are actually transported into the world of the Necromancer via Rush and actually the whole album rocks. This album is a must for any Rush fan!

This is one of Rush''s better early works. Bastille Day and Lakeside Park are simply terrific. Some of the other songs however like I think I''m Going Bald is below average. The lyrics by Neil Peart are great as usual. I give it 4 stars out of 5
