Comments for Shoulders, Trashman ShoesE-MAIL: caplice@mit.edu A must see band if you pass through Austin - if for no other reason than to sing along Uncle Achin. Their song "Charm" should have been a college/alternative hit. The best description of Slattery I have heard is Tom Waits on acid - quite accurate. Shoulders is sort of a cross between the Doors, the Pogues,U2, Tom Waits and old Cure. If you can imagine that. They`re one of the better Austin avant-garde bands.Instruments in a typical Shoulders performance:Upright Bass, Parade Drum, Guitar, Drum kit, Trumpet, Harmonica, Accordion.Lead singer: Michael SlatteryStandup Bass player: Chris BlackDrummer: Alan Gene WilliamsGuitarist: Todd KassensShoulders has a huge following in Austin. It is not atall uncommon to go to a show and see some guy being heldup over everyone`s shoulders by his buddies. Lead singerMichael Slattery is an outstanding lyricist, and the songsare uniformly exceptional. "Trashman Shoes" is Shoulders`first CD, but you may be able to find their two tapereleases ("Cannibal`s Dance" and "Love Is My Crime"), whichare thought by many to be better than the CD itself.Comments supplied by users do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Roadkill Consulting, Inc. |
