Comments for Simon, Carly, No Secrets

In 1975, I was able to by a copy of "No Secrets" in Quadraphonic 8-track (I know, it is a wild thought)-- but it was the early concept of surround sound. The front and back channels were completely separate, and on many selections, vocals only were up front in my '73 Dodge Charger, and the instrumental pumping through those Craig 6x9's in the back deck. "You're so Vain" started with the bass alternating between front and back, and Carly's sensuous whisper ("son-of-a-gun") coming seemingly from nowhere in particular. I know, it's a bit difficult to conceptualize, but in my basement is my old 8-track and that tape...and when I get real nostalgic, I set it up and think back on all the people I impressed. "YSV" and "Right Thing to Do" are all-time classics.

No one..absolutely no one..writes songs like this anymore...I was nine years old when I first received this eight track from my father. He also gave me HotCakes. I would play this album over and over till I had learned all the songs..I can still remember them today and hum them... Classic, classic album.. I no longer have the eight track and my father and I are estranged. Time can suck...

This is one of my all-time favorite albums, for both artistic and nostalgic reasons. The 33 1/3 album is worn out. I recently bought the remastered CD and thoroughly enjoy it. Brings back memories of college "glory days."
