This is Soft Cell at their most intense. This is Soft Cell at their greatest. The album is as near perfect as they were ever going to give us. Some songs are hard work - 'Slave to This' for example - but if you can cope with 'Angels' off 'Untitled' (Marc & Mambas), you can cope with this.

I am not a Soft Cell fan necessarily, but this album is outstanding! A great example of contemporary new wave with some cynicism thrown in for flavor. "Soul Inside" is absolutely classic, although I'm sure will never be recognised as such. ExCellent!

absolutely brilliant. much maligned (too "scary") but easily their most mature and fully realized work. i agree, this was the best they could ever give us; and as it is the final album, what a way to go! listen to this in one sitting, no distractions, just you and your headphones. it''s gritty, campy, and full of self-loathing and dread; a sort of gothic/60''s soul revue, with a good helping of ennui. not for the faint of heart, but vastly rewarding.
THE SOFT CELL ALBUM THAT STICKS OUT AS BEING DIFFERENT FROMALL THE OTHER SOFT CELL ALBUMS. STILL, IT IS SOFT CELL AND IT IS A VERY STRONG ALBUM. A LITTLE LESS SYNTH SOUNDING THAN PREVIOUS ALBUMS, THOUGH.
