Comments for Spencer Blues Explosion, The Jon, Orange

E-MAIL: forddavi@msu.edu
This album is incredible. I have listened to it hundreds of times and I can't get sick of it. There is nothing out right now to compare it to. Spencer sings with a low growl belting out the music that gives the band it's name. Disco strings, hip-hop beats, scratching, and a phone-in rap from Beck are a new avenue for the Blues Explosion. It works, though. I collect everything done by the Blues Explosion and Jon Spencer. I have bootlegs, rare 7", and out of print CD's by other bands Spencer has been in. If you are interested or if you have something I would be interested in: forddavi@msu.edu

Also, check out: Pussy Galore, The Honeymoon Killers (especially Hung Far Low), Boss Hog, The Workdogs, Crunt Royal Trux, Railroad Jerk.

the greatest album of the decade
The #1 Blues band in the world is how Jon Spencerdescribes his band and it`s hard to argue with him.Less noisey then Pussy Galore yet hardly MOR rock BluesExplosion play with great passion. Jon Spencer musthave listened to a lot of Keith Richards as a youngster. This album looks to future of rock `n` roll whiledestroying the myths. I don`t think Spencer accomplish-ed his goals with Pussy Galore but he`s gotten closer with the Blues Explosion. Besides Jon does a greatElvis. Who needs a bassist anyway? A ramblin` review that was -CCP
