Comments for Springsteen, Bruce, Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J.

This is late-adolescent Bruce, and even though it is not Born to Run or Born in the USA, these songs are great songs- -some covered, all quality. It's like witnessing the birth of a god everytime I listen to this album. If you're curious about the early work, this one won't let you down.

I was told that this first album isnīt good, but how wrong they have been! This album is so innocent and fresh. And what about the lyrics?! No wonder, new Dylan had just born.

I think this is the Boss' strongest record. Apart from a couple of weaker tunes,
the LP is strong throughout. And certainly the best cover the Boss ever had..

This album contains some really good things (if we do not count "Mary, Queen of Arkansas"). "Spirits in the night" proves that Bruce is very good at writing soulful songs: great rhythm, great lyrics! It's one of those songs that tell a story like in a Chuck Berry song. "For you" is another one of those. This wasn't the new Bob Dylan, this was Bruce Springsteen himself.

This album is as pure as it gets. Unfiltered, unperfected genius. The lyrics hit hard. Kind of like drinking orange juice with all the pulp.
