Comments for Stansfield, Lisa, Real Love

This is a quality album, with loads of safe soul tracks including 'Time to make you mine' and 'All Woman'. Undoubtedly Lisa Stansfield is the queen of modern soul.

Stansfield and producers Ian Devaney and Andy Morris peel back that slick veneer just a tad to reveal a greater variety of textured beats and tempos. The whole thing is pulled together by that achingly sensual VOICE. Standout tracks include the hit singles "Change" and "All Woman," as well as the boffo album tracks "First Joy" and "Set Your Album Free".

Great follow-up to a promising but lukewarm debut. "Change" and "All Woman" are classic pop singles. "A Little More Love" and "Real Love" are standout album tracks, "Tenderly" is a beautifully understated ballad, and "Time to Make You Mine" is a scorcher of a midtempo jam! (It was used to great effect during a love scene on "General Hospital"!) A couple of the disco tracks are a bit indistinguishable, but this disc is for the most part a pleasant listen.
Programmed/synthesized music, but with nice vocals formindless pop.
