Comments for Stansfield, Lisa, So Natural

Way mellow, probably too much so for this brilliant performer. (Is that why the album hasn't been released in the United States?) Though fans will enjoy it, Lisa needs to turn the beat around to regain pure pop success!

Fairly successful album, however more upbeat songs would have been better. Marvelous And Mine and Little Bit Of Heaven are instant classics, however.

Closer to MOR, adult contemporary balladeering than the sleek neo-Philly sound of first two superb discs. This import album is more than worth seeking out, however, if only for the standout cuts "Little Bit of Heaven" and "Marvellous & Mine." Both tracks are available as import singles, and "Heaven" boasts a subtle extra bass beat that makes this retro disco-twirler an outright sparkler. Hope Arista Records decides to release Stansfield's next disc in the States.

This album is just what the doctor ordered. The mellow sounds of Lisa's voice can soothe even the most savage of beasts. Her most powerful song, "In All The Right Places," captures all of her trademark sensuality. Unfortunately, it was never released in the U.S., where it seems the only emotions now being played on the radio are either outright lust or extreme rage. Compared to these, howver, Lisa is a gentle rain in a parched land.

I''ve been a fan of Lisa''s since she first hit the scenes with coldcut, and have nearly every recording of hers including the early days with Blue Zone! This hasto be her worst piece of work, rushed and slapped together quickly, with a bit of pressure from her management (now Ex mngmt). I wouldn''t normally critisize her work as near enough everything else she''s done has been tops! She would have been better off mixing up some of the ballads and given the fans a bit more to dance to in the clubs!!!!
